Calling all river rats! Looking to get out on the river? Join Rogue Riverkeeper for a float on the Rogue River from Dodge Bridge County Park to TouVelle State Recreation Site!

This Class II section is a great section of the river to float in the summer and is good for most folks who have river experience. Thanks to Rogue Riverkeeper's and the community's work, it is now protected from the impacts of high speed charter boats.

Bring your own boat or reserve your spot on the Rogue Riverkeeper raft. Participants in the Riverkeeper boat should plan on making a $10 donation to cover on-the-water insurance.

It's getting warmer in the Rogue basin, and we know as well as you do: The rivers are calling! But it's important to remember, safety comes first when getting on the water.

As air temperatures warm up, it takes longer for water temperatures to do the same. Cold water can be a shock when boaters and paddle boarders fall into the water which can lead to emergencies like drowning. According to the 2024 U.S. Coast Guard statistics, drowning was the reported cause of death in 76% of all boating fatalities. Of those, 87% were reported as not wearing a life jacket.

The Oregon State Marine Board, in partnership with paddlesports organizations across the state, is hosting "Fit to Floatยฎ" Life Jacket Fitting Events at numerous locations statewide on May 15 from 3โ€“6 PM.

These free events are designed for youth, families, and caregivers and will cover:
โœ… How a life jacket should properly fit
โœ… What to check before getting on the water
โœ… How to choose the right life jacket for your activity

Local event locations include:
Sotar on the Water in Merlin
Sawyer Station in Gold Hill
Indigo Creek Outfitters in Phoenix

This event kicks off National Safe Boating Week from May 16โ€“22, 2026. Learn more and find event details at Boat.Oregon.gov.

Boat safe, boat sober, and always wear your life jacket!

As part of our work protecting the waterways and habitats across the Rogue basin, we've hosted quite a few w**d pulls and trash removals at key locations along the Rogue River. If you've joined us for these events, you know pulling the tough and woody invasive scotch broom plants is not easy work ๐Ÿ˜…

We're grateful to have the support of Curtis Pearce at Uprooter & W**d Wrench who has graciously donated the use of his uprooter tools to make these events easier and more effective for the health of the Rogue River.

If you're looking for tools made that make yardwork easier while supporting a local business, check out Uprooter & W**d Wrench in Grants Pass, OR for all your W**d Wrench needs! ๐ŸŒพ

Thank you, Curtis, for your support of our work in giving back to the Rogue River!

Big news from Rogue Riverkeeper!

This July, our current Rogue Riverkeeper Program Manager Frances Oyung is retiring.

After a search including dozens of very qualified applicants, we are happy to welcome Jen Aguayo as the incoming Program Manager. A graduate of Southern Oregon University, Jen has a strong sense of connection to both the work and the region. Having lived and worked in the Rogue River basin for decades, Jen has a commitment to water protection and community-rooted advocacy which has been reflected in the watershed stewardship work she has built her career around. Whether it was as a field biologist conducting stream surveys and aquatic wildlife monitoring or serving as an environmental educator, she values work which is informed by science, shaped by local knowledge, and sustained over time.

Join us in welcoming Jen to the Rogue Riverkeeper and KS Wild team! ๐Ÿ’™

โ€ผ๏ธ Over 500 POUNDS of trash removed from Bear Creek โ€ผ๏ธ

We're sharing our thanks to this awesome crew of folks who came out to show some love to Bear Creek and the Rogue River last weekend for Bear Creek Stewardship Day! At our site at the mouth of Bear Creek, we removed over 500lbs of trash from the water and surrounding area. That is an impressive number and it truly makes such a difference for the Rogue River's habitat, making it a healthier and more beautiful place for all.

If you want to join us for a beautiful day outside giving back to the Rogue, we have a few more spring cleanups on the calendar:

๐Ÿ’ง Tomorrow, May 2nd: Cleanup at Robertson Bridge in Josephine County
๐Ÿ’ง Friday, May 8th: Cleanup by boat from Indian Mary to Galice
๐Ÿ’ง Saturday, May 16th: Group cleanup from Hog Creek to Indian Mary

Visit our calendar to learn more about these events and to sign up to join us! The more folks who show up, the better off the Rogue River is for all. We hope you consider joining us for a beautiful day outside this spring!

๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ’š Stream Smart - a clean water project had the opportunity to work alongside Rogue Riverkeeper and their volunteers for a Scotch Broom W**d Pull this morning out at Griffin County Park. Lots of broom was pulled along the nature trail and on the hillside leading down to the gravel bar. Special thanks to Uprooter & W**d Wrench for providing the W**d Wrenches. We couldn't have done it without those local, made right here in Grants Pass, tools! Good work, team! ๐Ÿ’š๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ’š

Year after year, our Earth Day Block Party just gets better and better!

We don't have to tell you how deeply precious this planet and our Klamath-Siskiyou region is. Folks showed up to celebrate, dance, participate, and take action for Earth Day, and the momentum building around protecting our region is vital to keeping our forests standing tall, our rivers flowing freely, and our public lands in public hands.

A big thanks to Wild Thyme Productions, LLC and City of Ashland Oregon for support in pulling off this incredible community event.

We're looking for a few more folks to join us this Saturday for a Rogue River cleanup in Josephine County!

Join us from 10am to 1pm at Roberston Bridge to help pull invasive plants and pick up trash to protect the river's water quality for our enjoyment and for the health of the important aquatic habitat this section of the river offers.

It's going to be a beautiful day to be by the river! Sign up to show some love to the Rogue ๐Ÿ’™

Join Rogue Riverkeeper at the Robertson Bridge Josephine County Parking area and we will walk to the floodplain area downstream to pull invasive broom and remove trash.
