What a day with our Innovation Fellows!

Friday’s Innovation Sprint was full of thoughtful conversations, creative thinking and plenty of collaboration as our Fellows continued digging deeper into the challenges they hope to address in our community.

We continue to be impressed by the energy and commitment this group is bringing to the Fellowship, and we’re excited to see their ideas continue to take shape in the weeks ahead.

What if the gifts we make today could keep supporting Carter County for years to come?

That is the idea behind the Carter County Community Fund. Created by local people for the community they call home, the Fund brings charitable gifts together to support projects and organizations working to make Carter County an even better place to live.

Each year, the Fund provides grants to local organizations addressing needs and creating opportunities right here in Carter County. And as the Fund grows, so does its ability to invest back into the community.

Right now, the 2026 Carter County Community Fund grant cycle is open! Eligible organizations serving Carter County can apply for funding through October 1.

Our Fall 2026 Community Grant Cycle is officially open!

We always look forward to seeing the ideas and projects our local organizations are working on to serve our community, and we’re excited to see what this grant cycle brings.

Community Grant applications are open to eligible 501(c)(3) charities and other organizations that meet our charitable grant guidelines, with projects serving Boyd and Greenup counties in Kentucky, Cabell and Wayne counties in West Virginia, and Lawrence County, Ohio.

We’ve made a few updates to our grant guidelines this fall to provide more detail and clarity, so even if you’ve applied with us before, please take a few minutes to review the guidelines before getting started.

We are proud to introduce the 17 nonprofit leaders selected for the Foundation for the Tri-State’s 2026 Innovation Fellowship cohort!

Beginning this month, these leaders will come together to learn, collaborate, and explore creative approaches to challenges facing their organizations and our community. With the Dick Griffith Tournament coming up over Labor Day weekend, we are shining a spotlight on a fund that continues the legacy of a man who spent so many years encouraging young athletes and supporting our local tennis community.

Dick Griffith was a beloved part of Huntington’s tennis community, known not only for his love of the sport, but for the way he encouraged young athletes and cheered them on. His friends wanted that support of young people to continue long after his time on the court, and in 2000, they established the Dick Griffith Scholarship Fund in his honor.

And the tournament that bears his name continues to play a part in that story. A portion of the proceeds from the Dick Griffith Tournament goes directly to the scholarship endowment at the Foundation, helping the fund grow and support students for years to come.

So, when players take the court this Labor Day weekend, they’ll be doing more than enjoying a great weekend of tennis. They’ll be helping carry forward the legacy of someone who meant so much to our local tennis community.

We are proud to help carry Dick Griffith’s legacy forward and grateful to everyone who continues to support this special fund and tournament. Good luck to all of this year’s players!

Applications for our inaugural Innovation Fellowship are officially closed!

Thank you to everyone who took the time to learn about the Fellowship and submit an application. We have been so encouraged by the interest and excitement surrounding this new opportunity!

We are looking forward to reviewing the applications and taking the next step in this exciting journey as we invest in leaders working to strengthen communities across the Tri-State.
