On behalf of Tomcat Basketball, we would like to welcome Coach Max Hunter on board! Coach Hunter will be our head FR coach and also assist our team program wide. Coach Hunter is well known in the community for his dedication to youth sports and skill development. On top of possessing a high basketball IQ, he is also very knowledgeable with logistics and fundraising. We are thrilled to have him helping our program!

ASHLAND, IT’S TIME TO GET BACK IN THE GYM!

FUTURE TOMCATS AND KITTENS, THIS ONE’S FOR YOU!

Basketball season is right around the corner, and we’re getting ready for another AWESOME year of Ashland Youth Basketball League (AYBL)!

Parents, if you’ve got a kid who loves basketball, wants to learn the game, make new friends, or just needs somewhere to burn off all that energy they’ve been using to destroy your living room furniture, WE’VE GOT A SPOT FOR THEM MY FRIENDS

Here’s the deal. Not every kid is going to be the next Michael Jordan, and that’s perfectly fine. Some are just learning to dribble. Some are finding their confidence. Some are going to score 20 points, and some are going to celebrate their first basket like they just won the NBA Finals in game 7!!

AND THAT’S WHAT YOUTH BASKETBALL IS ALL ABOUT!

We’re here to help these kids grow, learn teamwork, build friendships, develop their skills, and most importantly, HAVE FUN!

This year we are wanting to bring back the maroon and white divisions for 4th and 5th graders to get them ready for the next jump which will be middle school basketball. 4th graders will have two years to get ready for the jump!

We want packed gyms, loud parents, smiling kids, great sportsmanship, and a community coming together to support the next generation of Ashland Tomcats!

BIG NEWS FOR OUR 6TH GRADERS!

AYBL is officially opening registration to 6th grade BOYS AND GIRLS!

Our goal has always been simple: give as many kids as possible the opportunity to play basketball, compete, learn, and be part of something positive.

This is truly a great step in the right direction and we are so excited! If we get strong participation from our middle schoolers this season, we’re hopeful that next year we can expand into a 6th–8th grade league of their own!

At the end of the day, the more kids we can get into a gym, off their phones, building friendships, and staying out of trouble (hopefully lol), the better off our community will be.

It’s bigger than basketball. It’s about giving our kids something to be part of. The camaraderie that you feel and get from playing on a team is such a great feeling and can build memories that will last a lifetime!

16th Region Girls Semifinals Set for Thursday

MOREHEAD, KY - The girls semifinals in the 16th Region Tournament are set for Thursday night at Ellis T. Johnson Arena in Morehead.

The nightcap at 8:00 features the Menifee County LadyCats taking on the Ashland Kittens.

Menifee County defeated Raceland Tuesday 44-40. Menifee was led by Jaycee Gevedon with 18 points and 7 rebounds, and Payton Burgess with 13 points and 22 boards!

Ashland defeated East Carter 66-37. The Kittens were led by Brookelyn Duckwyler with 10 points, 5 assists, and 8 steals. 16th Region POY Gabby Karle scored 13 points and added 4 rebounds and 3 steals. Aryanna Gulley added 11 points and 8 rebounds. The Kittens forced 31 turnovers in the game!
