soUsign

soUsign American Sign Language club at Southern Oregon University. In the future, soUsign hopes to petition local movie theaters for captioning service.

soUsign was established in 2009 and has since then served as place for students of SOU's ASL classes, students interested in learning sign language, and community members to come together to learn. soUsign has in the past hosted Q&A panel events, bake sales, dances, and Deaf Ski Trips, petitioned SOU in pursuit of legitimizing the ASL program as a foreign language, in addition to regular meetings.

Ila Sachs: club adviser and program coordinator for deaf and hard of hearing services at SOU

Volunteer opportunity!

A small group of student filmmakers are looking for a hearing student to participate in a documentary which contains a "Deaf Experience" simulation experiment.

Interested parties must have a science course this term (preferably on friday though other schedules will be considered), must be willing to be shown and interviewed on camera, and must be willing to spend a day without the use of voice or hearing.

Our calendar has been updated with all of our meeting dates, times, and locations!

For the most part we will be meeting in the Stevenson Union, room 318, There are two dates - Nov. 6th and Dec. 11th - where we will be in SU room 314.
