Bandit's Adoption and Rescue of K-9s (BARK) Per the President of BARK, as of 12/15/19, the BARK kennels are closed. Bandit was a dog neglected by his owners.

This page will continue to promote dogs in local animal shelters in need of adoption or rescue. BARK (Bandit’s Adoption and Rescue of K-9’s) was founded in 2001 by Bob and Denise Tillack who continue the legacy of a rescue effort they started when they saved Bandit in 1987. After watching Bandit deteriorate for several weeks, the founders approached Bandit's owners to purchase him. After several attempts, the owner released ownership of Bandit to BARK and they took him to his new home. The founders and Bandit were together for 14 years before his death in 2001. Bandit will always be remembered, serving as a constant reminder of all the other neglected, homeless and abused animals in the world.

He isn't sure how he ended up homeless and would love to meet his new family soon. Here's what the shelter shared about him:

Gentle, easy to walk on the leash, enjoys sniffing but checks in routinely with his human.
Evidence of house training.
Absolutely perfect tricolor markings
Looks and acts like he’s been a house dog as opposed to a hunting dog.

He isn't sure how he ended up homeless and would love to meet his new family soon. Here's what the shelter shared about him:

We’re still learning about Kanga but on his first walk after his stray hold was complete, he showed a very reasonable energy level and a nice mix of independent sniffing and checking in with his human.
Well-mannered and takes treats gently.
Just a nice boy!

**TRIPOD IN NEED** Please share for Debow, a super handsome, affectionate and outgoing, 3-year-old cane corso who is currently in need of adoption or rescue from the Henrico County animal shelter. He isn't sure how he ended up in doggie jail and would love to meet his new family soon. Here's what the shelter shared about him:

To be honest, volunteers weren't too sure what to make of Debow when passing him in the kennel, where his kennel presence can be pretty intimidating. Outside, however, this guy is friendly, sweet, and it's downright inspiring to see him get around on three legs.

If you can't help directly, please share and cross-post to help him find the perfect forever home. Please contact the shelter to meet this cutie or for additional information.

❤️🐾 JACOB NEEDS AN ADOPTER OR RESCUE — AND A CHANCE TO GET HEALTHY! 🐾❤️
Meet Jacob, a 2–3-year-old, 44-pound black-and-white Pittie mix with one gorgeous blue eye and SO much love to give! 💙
Jacob is heartworm positive and desperately needs treatment. Unfortunately, the stress and chaos of shelter life make it difficult to provide the calm environment he needs during recovery. 💔
❤️ THE GOOD NEWS? A wonderful nonprofit partner will cover the cost of his heartworm treatment! But Jacob needs a home before he can begin.
And he's such a wonderful boy!
🐾 Easy on leash and loves exploring
🧠 Knows sit and shake with BOTH paws!
💕 Sweet, affectionate and treat motivated
🚗 Happily hops into the car
🐶 Potentially dog-friendly with lower-energy companions
His adopter would need to help with just a couple of veterinary appointments and follow activity restrictions during treatment.
Jacob doesn't just need a home. He needs someone to give him the chance to get healthy and enjoy the life he deserves! 🥹❤️

Please share for this adorable girl! Heaven is a ridiculously cute, affectionate and dog-friendly 2-year-old pup who is currently in need of adoption or rescue from the Henrico County animal shelter. She isn't sure how she ended up homeless and would love to meet her new family soon. Here's what the shelter shared about her:

Heaven is a cautious little girl who does best when there's a confident dog around who can show her the way.
Lovely small size.
Needs a patient, kind human to teach her that people can be good. Once she gets this vibe from you, she will crawl right in your lap.
She loves toys, going for walks, and cuddling with her person.
She doesn’t love the crate but is house trained.
Would do well in a home where some one is home most of the time and kids 10+.

If you can't help directly, please share and cross-post to help her find the perfect forever home. Please contact the shelter to set up an appointment to meet her or for additional information.
