The Fish Creek Slough is a very important place for birds! This place, and all of the amazing estuaries along the south shore, provide shelter from wind and waves, food, and habitat for all sorts of waterfowl -- whether it's a stopover on their migration journey or home for the ice-off months. This Friday (5/29) morning we're going birding in Prentice Park with local birder extraordinaire, Tim Oksiuta, for our first field trip of the year to observe and appreciate all of the amazing winged beings who call the area home! We'll be meeting at the Prentice Park Pavillion at 8 am! Hope you'll join us! Learn more at superiorrivers.org/events

And that's a wrap on another successful macroinvertebrate collection season! Thanks to the help of over 50 volunteers we were able to collect macroinvertebrate data on 25 different sites across Wisconsin's Lake Superior Basin! We're feeling so grateful for our community of watershed stewards!!

Want to help us sort and identify these samples? Come join us next week at the Vaughn Library on Friday May 28 from 5-7 pm and Saturday May 29 from 12-3 pm!

The Corny Fish Shed relies on water for its very being -- FISH. We're all made of water, and as Jody of the Fish Shed says about why it's so important... "Um, like LIFE man."

This May 16th is the very first For Water Fest, which Jody and the Corny Fish Shed are launching to connect and engage neighbors in ways to help advocate, defend, promote, and understand our role as water stewards.

The Fish Shed has a special connection to our watersheds, and the Siskiwit River in particular. Jody and Joe each have land on the Siskiwit. "We live in the Siskiwit Valley," they say. "We own and operate a business on the Siskiwit Bay harbor. We feed our family, friends, and neighbors from the waters of Lake Superior and the Siksiwit Valley that gives tribute. Water is Life."

Join us this Saturday, May 16th for the very first For Water Fest in Cornucopia. Community Clean Up at 8am. Vendors, music, food, and drink at 11. You can find Superior Rivers there, and thank you very much to the Fish Shed for their support and sponsorship!
