Another Very Special Adoption!

When 8-month-old Kit arrived at MWHS in December 2024, she was thin, dehydrated, and incontinent. This little darling has been through a lot medically since then, and she is still on medication and has some special needs. She is a tail-less Manx kitty who is cute as a button and a sweet lap cat. Kit has been living in one of our wonderful foster homes where the resident cat and dog were her BFFs. When Gordon and Bianca saw Kitโ€™s online photo, they wanted to meet this cutie pie. Our sweet little girl charmed them and made them laugh, and they took her home as foster to adopt to see if Kit would get along with their dog. Itโ€™s been a few months, but Kit is now comfortable with their dog, and she has Gordon and Bianca wrapped around her tiny paw! Thank you, Gordon and Bianca, for opening your hearts and home to this precious little soul. We know Kit will continue to bring you much love and joy!

Two shy strays who once werenโ€™t quite sure about humans are now living their best life together in their forever home.โค๏ธ

Burl (formerly known as Peach) and Nettle (formerly known as Pepsi) arrived at MWHS on the very same day. Burl had been surviving as a stray in Framingham, while little Nettle was heartbreakingly left behind in a carrier at a farm. Though both were frightened and unsure at first, a beautiful friendship quickly formed between them โ€” and with lots of patience, love, and snacks, they slowly learned that people could be trusted too. ๐Ÿ˜ฝ

After more than a year with MWHS, Jen and Dan saw their potential to become loving companions and opened their hearts and home to this special pair.โค๏ธToday, Burl and Nettle are thriving together in the forever home they always deserved!

Thank you, Jen & Dan, for giving these two such a wonderful home ๐Ÿ after their decidedly rough beginning โ€” and for giving them the patience, love, and understanding they needed to truly blossom. ๐Ÿ’œ

โ€œHello MetroWest folks,
We are writing with an update on Burl and Nettle (formerly Peach and Pepsi). These two are healthy, active, goofy best friends and now only hide when more than one person comes to visit. Most days they are glued to the doors facing the backyard, keeping an eye on insects, birds, chipmunks, squirrels, hawks, and falling leaves and snow flakes.

When they first came to live with us, we were unsure if they would ever fully relax and feel part of our little family. Now, they actively interact with us and no longer hide or run away. We are so very lucky they decided we were okay.

Nettle still controls feeding times and lets us know when weโ€™re falling down on the job. Sometimes she curls up on the couch next to us or on our laps when itโ€™s chillier at night. She knows exactly what she wants and is skilled at getting us or Burl to make it so.

Weโ€™re especially excited to share that not only does Burl accept petting and chin scritches now (!), but he comes over and requests petting! It took a lot of patience and time, letting him decide when it was right. Heโ€™s very playful and sweet, still very vocal, and purrs up a storm when you do chin scritches the right way.

We have so much appreciation for the amazing people who fostered them and all of the volunteers and staff at MetroWest. Youโ€™ve built a truly remarkable community. This really felt like a "meant to be" match up all around!โ€

Awesome May Adoptions!

A couple of weeks ago, three kitten siblings named Buster, Elsie, and Maggie were adopted together to a wonderful family and are living their best lives now. Their sister Zoey and brother Cody went into foster to adopt because their new families had resident pets, and we wanted to make sure that everyone got along before finalizing the adoptions. Zoeyโ€™s new mom, Jennifer, was interested in Zoey when she saw photos of the adorable calico. At the meet & greet, Zoey climbed into Jenniferโ€™s lap as if to say, โ€œthis is where I belong.โ€ Well, it didnโ€™t take long for Zoey to become bonded with her new sisters Buttercup and Tessie! Thank you, Jennifer, for giving our sweet little Zoey a new mom, two big sisters, and so much love. We know she will bring you lots of joy!

When Christine and Ken first met Cody, they immediately fell in love with this affectionate 4-paw polydactyl tuxedo kitten. Cody has made himself right at home and makes his new parents laugh all the time. He loves his new kitty big sister Sophie and doggy big sister Poppy. Christine reports that Cody is bringing out the kitten in Sophie, and they couldnโ€™t be happier! Thank you, Christine and Ken, for opening your hearts and home to Cody (now BooBoo Bear). May this sweet, silly boy continue to bring much love, laughter, and mischief into your lives!

Cloud (gray and white) and Sky (gray tabby) came to MWHS as strays in November 2024 and are now 6 years old. They were bonded, and quite shy and skittish. It took a while for them to settle in and trust humans, but our wonderful socializers helped them learn that humans can be kind and fun and provide yummy treats. Krista saw the online photo of Cloud and Sky and wanted to meet them. The visit went really well, and Krista took the girls home as foster to adopt. Cloud and Sky have really blossomed in their new home and have now been officially adopted! Thank you, Krista, for opening your heart to sweet Cloud and Sky. May these lucky girls continue to thrive in your loving home.

At 8 years old, Carlos has mastered the art of being the perfect calm companion. Heโ€™s gentle, affectionate, and wonderfully easygoing โ€” the kind of cat who quietly steals your heart while curled up beside you. โค

Carlos LOVES attention and happily accepts scratches as payment for his companionship. Once he trusts you, donโ€™t be surprised if he climbs right into your lap for cuddle time. His hobbies include:

Carlos does have a stable heart condition (cardiomyopathy), but right now it doesnโ€™t slow him down or require medication. Heโ€™s happy, comfortable, and enjoying life exactly as a cat should. Heโ€™ll simply need routine veterinary monitoring and a calm, loving home. He also has a history of stress-related urinary issues that are well managed with a special diet and a peaceful environment. ๐Ÿ˜๏ธ

Because Carlos values peace and quiet, heโ€™d do best as the only pet in the home โ€” a role he fully intends to take very seriously. Why share the spotlight when you can have an entire human staff dedicated to YOU? ๐Ÿ˜น

Very Special Adoptions!

Twelve-year-old Missy came to MWHS in February when, sadly, her owner had to go into long-term care. Missy is gorgeous (and she knows it!), and very sweet and easy-going. We were looking for a new home where this little lady would be the calico queen of her castle. Jack was looking for a senior cat companion, and he and his granddaughter, Shelia, met Missy in her foster home. They felt right away that Missy would make the purrfect companion! Thank you, Jack, for opening your heart and home to sweet Missy. We know she will be a wonderful companion and bring you much love and happiness!

Four-month-old stray kittens Patty (tabby) and Poppy (black) and their four siblings came to MWHS in January. After fending for themselves outdoors, the six kittens were initially quite shy, but once they moved into their own room on the third floor, their sweet, playful nature and individual personalities became apparent. They have been favorites of our volunteers since they arrived. Lizzie, a first-time cat owner, wanted to adopt a pair of kittens and when she and Angie met this kaboodle of kittens, they fell in love with Patty and Poppy on the spot and knew these were the ones for Lizzie! Thank you, Lizzie, for adopting Patty and Poppy and giving them a loving mom and their very own home. We know these kittens will be loved and spoiled beyond measure - they even have godparents that are MWHS volunteers!
