We're pleased to announce that AU has received a $110,000 grant from The Teagle Foundation to strengthen our First Year Seminar program, enhancing a key component of the university’s general education curriculum that helps new students build the academic skills, intellectual curiosity and campus connections essential for long-term success.

The 24-month grant, awarded through The Teagle Foundation’s Cornerstone: Learning for Living initiative, will support efforts to refine the seminar’s curriculum, expand faculty development and further connect students’ liberal arts education with their academic and professional aspirations.

“This grant is vital to our focus on critical thinking skills and will strengthen our close community of learners,” said Dr. Jon Parrish Peede, president of AU. “We are grateful to President Andrew Delbanco and The Teagle Foundation for their confidence in our vision and commitment to student success.”

Two weeks from today on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Jack Miller Stadium, please consider joining us for a special event: the Flights of Honor 9/11 Remembrance Challenge.

Ashland University is proud to honor the first responders, service members and all heroes who answered an extraordinary call 25 years ago. Coordinated by AU’s Military Family and Veteran Services department, participants will attempt to climb 110 flights of stairs—the number of stories of the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers—to honor the 2,977 lives lost, recognize the courage of the first responders and reflect on the resilience and unity of our nation.
