Chief Stephen Adkins, Chief of the Chickahominy Tribe, Samaria Baptist Church Elder and first Native American Baptist association president, opened with powerful remarks about how God delivered His Message in spite of an oppressive messenger to share Christ's love. Darlene Herod, North Run Baptist Church, and Director of Dover’s WMU was recognized for her incredible Baptist history research and over four decades with VBHS. Tim Madison, both Dover and state association leader, pastors historic Emmaus Baptist Church, who celebrates her own 250 years as a Body of Christ this year. VBHS Executive Director Nathan Taylor leads this vital institution of preserving Virginia’s Baptist history. Former Baptist seminary president and historian Brent Walker spoke on Baptist history including the supportive role of James Madison who defended the rights of Baptist preachers, who were being persecuted and jailed for preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.
