In 1974 President Ford signed the declaration for the first national EMS week. Since then we use this week to recognize the work done by Emergency Medical Services workers nation wide. Here in Ashland, every member of Local 875 is a Paramedic or an EMT. We've had the privilege to respond to calls for help from across Ashland and Bayfield Counties since 1967. Since those days we've continued to expand our capabilities in Emergency Medical Services so we always provide the best possible care to the people we care for.

Thank you to all members of Local 875, past and present, who've answered those calls for help over the years.

Congratulations to Firefighter/EMT Jake Kruzan for completing his probationary period today! Jake is already in paramedic class and crushing it on Shift 3. A formal pinning ceremony will be held soon.

Members of the Milwaukee Fire and Police Department honor guard units remember two Wisconsin firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty in 2025. The Hoan Bridge was lit in red on Sunday evening to honor firefighter Lori Boelkes of the Warrens Area Fire District and firefighter/safety officer Amie Lee of the Van Dyne Fire Department.
