We had to stopped accepting new kitties in anticipation of our move, but we still have many in our care.

Like my sweet little Tom!!

Under the love and care of Dr. Duncan and his staff, our boy has overcome starvation, dehydration, a URI, double ear infection, pillow pads, and FIA.
His pads have significantly improved but I fear this last one that is still open will end up needing the surgery. We look forward to our next vist to see how much more weight he has put on......
Look at our boy, he's getting his Tomcat Jawls ๐Ÿ˜ป

I am sad and happy to report my time in Boyd county is coming to a end.

I have been working diligently toward my vision of becoming a Veterinarian and the time has come for me to move closer to my desired Grad school.
This decision hasn't come easy but this move is necessary to increase my chances of being accepted into their program when the time arrives.
I have agreed to help a couple close rescues with their more spicier crew for the time, and continue to volunteer in the area when time permits, but otherwise it's time to close up and get ready to depart.

It's been a pleasure serving Boyd county and the surrounding communities.

Keep me and those furry critters I look after in your thoughts and prayers. I pray the next time I'm blessed to be serving in our community again, it will be in a Clinical setting ๐Ÿ™ โค๏ธ

A lot more than Faith,Trust, and Pixie Dust went into healing this fellas paws.

The progress is remarkable but we are still working to get them closed naturally. Doctor fears there won't be enough tissue if trimming and suturing is necessary.
We are looking for any recommendations on how to better promote healing of this last and still weeping paw.

He is on full time kennel rest with paper litter. He recieves wound care daily to flush debris and left open to air He is on Doxi twice a day and recieved 2 steriod injections, roughly 2 weeks apart.

๐Ÿ˜ป We are on week 4 and he has gained 2 lbs and his cbc today came back at the low end of normally. If you haven't been following his story when we came in, he was near blood transfusion levels.

Tom was cleared yesterday for a bath.

๐Ÿคฃ He is currently mad at me and he is putting as much distance as possible between us, while he dries off in his heated box.

He may be hating but he smells and looks so much better. I was able to wash all of the old blood and drainage out of his fur, ears, and paws.

He has gained almost a whole pound and his Red Count is climbing nicely out of the danger zone.

Keep sending well wishes for our moody guy as his paws continue to heal and his labs return to normal!!

God Bless these Rescues outside of our area for all that they do. We, as small rural rescues, do not give them enough recognition for all they do.

We cannot keep up with the need of our community because the numbers are beyond our capacity and adoptions are slow. Thankfully these larger cities have more volunteers and a larger community to adopt out to.

5 babies and their momma was sent to a better life this morning. The larger rescue saved us from having to bring them in and risk illness ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ™Œ
Thank you to our amazing community member that give them a temporary home to grow until they are old enough to travel.

Tom is free from Martin's but he is still on Kennel rest.๐Ÿ˜ด we go back Wednesday for more labs and to check his pads.
Let's hope we see a decent change in his hemoglobin ๐Ÿ™
If we get his anemia taken care, then he is out of danger and we can put all of our energy in fattening him up...poor guy is all skin and bones.

We were able to raise $174.00 for his medical expenses. Thank you for donation ๐Ÿ˜ปUnfortunately, we need to meet a goal of $525.00 to cover it.
Please consider donating to help us cover his bill and better prepare for his future appointments and possible surgery!!

Daily Reminder!!!

Your indoor kitties need annual vaccines too ๐Ÿ˜ป๐Ÿ’‰
Just because they are indoor doesn't mean they are safe.

This is my sweet Baby Squirrel!! We are celebrating his 3rd year of life and 3rd year in our life.

He came to the house at 2 days old and his momma abandoned him and his siblings during transport. He was 1000% a "foster fail". He is a fat happy lazy boy that likes to escape when the littles of the house are being absent minded.

It is sooo important that we keep his FVRCP and Rabies Updated for his sake and the littles we have to bring in.

UPDATE ON TOM

I Stopped by to check on Tom this evening.

His labs came back today with both good and worrisome

His temp and white blood cell count are down low enough he was able to get his streroid injection today.
Unfortunately, his RBC is lower than what it was on Monday. Doc warned that if the levels drop too much further, we will have to discuss a blood transfusion.
He's optimistic, however, that the issue is due to a parasite that attacks Red Blood Cells. He has added a med to fight the parasite, and he will recheck labs Friday๐Ÿ™

Despite all that is going on, I think Tom looks better than what he did on Monday๐Ÿ˜ป
Continue sending positive vibes for our guy and please if you haven't consider donating to his growing bill.

Life after rescue update!!!
(Pictures have been grayed for viewer sensitivity)

I got a update on our Amazing Boy Frankie, now know as Doug!!

2 years ago, we got a 911 call for a intact male with a large gaping wound on the side of his neck.
We rushed him to the vet where Doc and the amazing team at Martin's were able to get his wound cleaned and on the right kind of meds.

He went from fighting for females and his next meal to the daily struggle of fighting the clock on the number of hours he can manipulate for sleep and food๐Ÿ˜‰

We are so proud to be a part of his success and that someone out there deemed him worthy to be a part of their forever family ๐Ÿ˜ป๐Ÿ˜ป

We love to be a part of a community that has just as much compassion and empathy for our free-roaming cats as we do.
Thank you truly for helping us make a difference ๐Ÿ™

Update on Tom

His labs came back and Thank God we are not dealing with complications brought on by FIV or FeLV. His organs seem to be functioning decently at the moment but his Red Blood Cells are really low and his temperature is crazy above 104.0.

We agreed that hospitalization was the best option so he can get IV fluids and antibiotics. He is already eating ๐ŸคžWe are hoping to see him healthy in a few weeks.

All 4 of his pads are busted open and are currently bleeding. Doc and his team are addressing the symptoms and we will revisit the idea of surgery if the do not shrink back down to normal size after a round of steroids.
