Today was nothing short of AMAZING for Special Olympics Area 29!
We brought together 6 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 3 high schools, and multiple adult athletes—and the energy, support, and love could be felt all day long. This is what inclusion looks like!
A HUGE thank you to Harpeth Middle School and Harpeth High School for hosting us, along with 25 incredible HMS student volunteers who showed up and worked hard all day to support our athletes. You made a difference!
We are so grateful for our sponsors E&E Towing & Recoveryand Dougs Auto Sales your support truly makes days like this possible.
Thank you VFW Volunteers for helping with awards!
Thank you to the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Officers for always showing up and supporting our athletes and community.
A special thank you to Special Olympics Tennessee for bringing Healthy Athletes and the Train for Life fitness station—providing athletes with opportunities to learn, grow, and stay healthy in such a fun and meaningful way. Programs like Healthy Athletes offer free health screenings and education that help athletes thrive both on and off the field.
We also want to thank the HHS HOSA Club for helping run Healthy Athletes and taking such great care of our athletes throughout the day!
We had the honor of recognizing some truly outstanding individuals and supporters this year:
🏅 James Nelson – Partner of the Year
🏅 Sam Baker – Athlete of the Year
🏅 Cheatham County School District– Sponsor of the Year
🏅 Lindsay Greece– Coach of the Year
🏅 Bill Clark – Volunteer of the Year
We also want to give a very special and heartfelt recognition to the late Nikki Gersman, a longtime volunteer who gave so much of her life to Special Olympics. Her impact will never be forgotten. We were honored to present this award to her husband, Justin, in recognition of her years of service and dedication.
Days like today remind us why we do what we do—the smiles, the victories, the teamwork, and the joy that fills every moment.
Thank you to all the parents, teachers, volunteers, and supporters who pour into these athletes. We couldn’t do it without you.
