The Field Board The Field Board is an autonomous organization of volunteers that provide operation and maintenance for The Field in Ashfield, MA.

The Field Board is an autonomous organization of volunteers set up in 2010 by the Trusttees of Sanderson Academy (organized in 1821) to provide operation and maintenance of The Field. It is recognized by the IRS as a 501c3 Public Charity that will provide maintenance and constructional rehabilitation of The Field and facilities. The Ashfield Baseball Committee (ABC) ,an adjunct organization to th

e Field Board, organizes baseball and softball activities each year for children ages 5 through 15. The field is also used for many other activities throughout the year for children of all ages up to later 90's. Soccer, ultimate frisbee, basketball and the play structures and slides are among its uses. The Field can also be used by the Emergency Management Service personnel for aerial evacuations. As a “Public Charity” The Field Board is funded by donations. About half of the yearly operating budget comes from investments set up by the Trustees of Sanderson Academy in a Permanent Fund. Some of the ABC's funding comes from the Ashfield Firefighter's Association. The current Wall Reconstruction Design Project is partly funded by the Town of Ashfield. Liability insurance for The Field and fire insurance for The Field Barn are provided under the town's umbrella because a corner of the playing field is owned by the town with no demarcation of boundaries.
