As we enter the 250th anniversary year, we are seeing an exciting increase in public interest for the Beyond The Liberty Tree initiative.

To accommodate those just now engaging with the 2026 celebrations, we have transitioned to rolling applications for Beyond The Liberty Tree nominations from January 16, 2026 through September 30, 2026.

This change ensures the initiative remains available throughout the year rather than concluding after the first six months. Submit a Liberty Tree for your county today!

The Buncombe County America250 NC Committee invites local artists to design a commemorative plaque for the “Beyond the Liberty Tree” initiative – honoring the enduring legacy of liberty through tree plantings across Buncombe County and beyond.

The winning artist will be commissioned to produce one hundred plaques for installation across Buncombe County as part of the America 250th celebrations.
