Mona's Legacy

Mona's Legacy Changing lives with the love she left behind in the areas of mental health, homelessness and education in Western North Carolina. She was 53.

A woman whose compassion knew no bounds, Mona Cornwell was the longtime director of marketing and community relations at A-B Tech, where she was instrumental in the college’s mission of helping area residents change their lives for the better. As a mental health advocate, she was the spark and drive behind Crisis Intervention Team training that area law enforcement officers now use in situations i

nvolving mental illness. Never one to see a need and turn away, she worked in ways both big and small to improve the lives of the homeless, poor and other disenfranchised segments of society. A woman of incomparable warmth and grace, Mona died far too young April 2, 2013, from ovarian cancer.
