Preserving A Picturesque America PAPA

Preserving A Picturesque America PAPA We seek the vantage point of the early adventure artists. To re-create the art of the picturesque…and preserve the sacred places that inspired so many.

Our Mission: To raise awareness and preserve natural and historic places through art and literature. The original Picturesque America serials explored natural as well as architectural wonders across the country and gave Americans new perspective on these national treasures. It also posed an important question. Over one hundred and forty years ago the artists and writers asked ” …what will become

of these unreplaceable natural places? ” By re-creating the original Picturesque America books from 1872 to 1874 we will look at how we as a nation have answered that question. Respected and preserved or exploited and destroyed? Both answers will motivate and hopefully inspire action.

The greedy, uninformed an immoral acts to this world that we live in are more than heartbreaking. They are simply dangerous to our existence. Now is the time for all of us to not only speak for the trees, but the entire planet! We cannot be passive tree, hugging nature lovers anymore. We must be activist every day and let our representatives know hands-off our old growth forest and public lands Let’s make the entire world worth living in again. Earth Day every day!✊🏼

This is our calling. We use the power of the arts to share truth and hope.

Only when we have the opportunity to connect to the natural world, with slow deliberate focus, will we truly understand why we are part of the earth and therefore must protect it. The art is beyond what you see on the canvas, it is the time that the Artist took to be there, in its presence, embrace it. That is why our motto is “preservation through the power of the arts.”. For the Arts can share those moments of being part of something larger and inspire us to protect the only home our species has ever known.

Our founder wanted to share a thought for the new year: “Unlike myself, my grandfather spoke very little, but when he did, it was always meaningful, thoughtful and inspiring. So by his example, I have tried very hard to speak with purpose. It takes breath, patience, and focus. Something that society does not encourage. But if we treat our words as spells being cast upon the world, perhaps we will speak more kindly and with positive intent.
Speak clearly for yourself, others and this wonderful planet we are blessed to live on.

Yours in hope,
Doc “
