✨ Meet PechaKucha Night Asheville presenter Peter Tromba!

Peter brings more than 20 years of experience as a middle and high school principal and district administrator. He also served for five years as Oregon’s Interagency Policy Research Director, overseeing program development and evaluation across early learning, K–12 education, postsecondary education, and youth re-engagement.

Before becoming an administrator, Peter taught reading to learners of all ages, as well as high school science and computer programming. He holds a bachelor’s degree in zoology from the University of Maryland and a master’s degree in education leadership from the University of Oregon.

✨ Meet PechaKucha Night Asheville presenter Rebecca Weston!

Rebecca is a dual citizen of the United States and Italy, an online math tutor, and a Camino de Santiago walking coach. Her journey toward Italian citizenship began in 2015 and became the subject of a 2017 PechaKucha talk. Now, she returns to bring that story to its long-awaited conclusion.

Rebecca has walked thousands of miles along Camino routes through Spain, Portugal, and France, lived in Spain for four years, and returned to the United States in October 2025. Now that her Italian citizenship is official, will she move to Italy? After years of navigating Italian bureaucracy, the answer remains under review.

✨ Meet PechaKucha Night Asheville presenter Craig Carpenter!

Craig is an Asheville-based artist, designer, inventor, and advocate for play. His creative journey has taken him through 3D animation, photography, electronic music, product and game design, and entrepreneurship—all fueled by a lifelong curiosity and a desire to help people smile, connect, and see the world a little differently.

Today, Craig creates clever objects and experiences that invite people to play, including Chonkits: “chonky trinkets” used for games, crafting, communication, education, therapy, and just plain fun. He’s especially interested in what happens after we make something—the laughter, connection, curiosity, stories, and moments of joy it inspires.

✨ Meet PechaKucha Night Asheville presenter Rick Devereaux!

Rick is a retired U.S. Air Force major general and national security consultant. A graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, he flew the C-5 Galaxy, KC-135 Stratotanker, and jet trainers during a career that included leadership assignments in the Middle East, England, and the Pentagon. He concluded his military service as the Air Force’s Director of Operational Planning.

Since moving to Asheville in 2012, Rick has consulted with defense industry firms and think tanks while remaining deeply engaged in the local community. He serves on several community boards, chairs the Blue Ridge Public Radio Board, and is a past president of the Rotary Club of Asheville.

✨ Meet PechaKucha Night Asheville presenter Lora Hawkins!

Lora is an assistant professor of English Education at Appalachian State University, where she teaches courses in language, literacy, and methods of English Education. Her scholarship explores culturally sustaining pedagogy, teacher identity, and youth-led participatory action research.

She lives in the mountains of Western North Carolina with her husband, Teshale, and spends a great deal of time thinking about language—its gaps, its fossils, and its capacity to name what we didn’t know we felt. Lately, her most important word has been “mama.”

✨ Meet PechaKucha Night Asheville presenter Matthew Colombo!

Matthew is a multimedia artist and creator of It’s OK to Become a Human, a project sharing stories, inspiration, and practical skills for building healthier emotional and relational lives. Through writing, videos, workshops, and speaking, he explores the steps—and missteps—he took while excavating his authentic self.

Matthew also helps adults pursue purpose and authenticity through UnCareer Coaching and facilitates social-emotional-expressive learning for children at ZigZag ALC. His past lives include good boy, earthskills teacher, bark hut dweller, government worker, and PhD scientist. Perhaps most importantly, he is a reliable and caring friend, lover, and funcle.

Meet PechaKucha Night Asheville presenter Marisol Jiménez!

Marisol is the co-founder and principal of Spiralis Consulting and the co-founder of Tepeyac Mountain Sanctuary, a grassroots healing justice and movement-building organization. A social worker, healing practitioner, and longtime advocate, she has created spaces for rest, ritual, reflection, and healing for Black, immigrant, and other frontline organizers.

With 30 years of experience in education, facilitation, and mentoring, he promotes growth and peak performance.

Adam’s consulting focuses on mindfulness, accountability, vision, and clarity, empowering clients to take action toward their aspirations and engage in meaningful ways with next-best-self strategies.
