Brian Cagle, Regional Vice President of Howard Hanna - Beverly Hanks Real Estate, presented the state of the market for the western region of North Carolina which includes 9 counties. Real Estate is a huge part of the regional economy because so many people from other parts of the country move here to raise their families, retire, vacation part time, and invest in our community.

Rotarians think on their feet and create great things. Our President was out of town, our District Governor was set to speak. Unfortunately our DG became ill and was unable to attend. President Elect Trish Hord-Heatherley sprang into action. We welcomed new member David Plaisance to our club with his sponsor David Hayes. Member Clay Mooney shared information on the potential for a return service project Rotarians Against Hunger. Our District Governor Elect, Ross Sloan, is considering the project for his year in honor of recently deceased Rotarian Bill Bass who was the driving force for many years until Covid ended the run. We can pivot and improvise to learn and have fun!

This was an amazing meeting this week. We learned of the impact the Asheville Digital Nomads have in our region through the vision of founder Ric Pratte (5000 members creating jobs and millions in economic impacts), member Lake Keynon received Rotary District 7670 recognition for his leadership in youth services, Open Hearts Art Center was awarded a $2000 grant for the amazing work they provide for their artists, and we collected a carload of snacks for member Don Swaby to deliver to the Asheville VA to help support their desire for small but important ways they can help their patients. And we did it all in one hour including breakfast and fun!

22 Members and friends of the Asheville Breakfast Rotary went on an outing to the Grove Arcade on Thursday evening. We learned about the history, it was supposed to be 14 stories and was once bricked over during WWII and after. Fortunately many people and corporations realized the beauty and value and it is now a destination for locals and visitors alike for dining, shopping and living. The group went out to dinner after, club social time and highlights, Lets Have Fun!
