As we enter Memorial Day weekend, CIBO joins our community and nation in remembering the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.

Their sacrifice secured the freedoms we cherish — including the freedom to build, work, serve, worship, and pursue opportunity in the communities we call home.

This weekend, we honor them with gratitude, humility, and remembrance.

CIBO was proud to attend Champion Credit Union’s Community CONNECT Speaker Series featuring Jason Bowman of ArtSpeak Creative.

Jason delivered a thoughtful and energizing presentation on leadership, communication, vision, and organizational culture — the kind of practical insight that matters for every business, nonprofit, and community leader working to move an organization forward. His message was a strong reminder that big ideas only gain traction when leaders communicate clearly, build healthy teams, and turn vision into real momentum.

Today marks a major milestone for Western North Carolina as ground is officially broken on the I-26 Connector — a project CIBO has supported since our founding in 1987. After years of discussion, debate, and delay, it is encouraging to see real progress on an infrastructure project that has long been needed for our region. We are proud to have stood behind this effort from the beginning, and we hope the completed Connector brings lasting relief to business owners, commuters, and residents across WNC for years to come.

CIBO was honored to welcome Congressman Chuck Edwards for an update on key issues impacting Western North Carolina’s business community, including federal policy developments, Hurricane Helene recovery, and changes affecting FEMA and related response efforts.
