To ight’s the night—- for our June bee meeting!!!! See you soon!

Our next meeting promises great info, insights and fun! Along with the great presentation by Km Guillemette (more of her bio below), come early for a workshop on refractometers and stay for the silent auction — of an extractor! Stay posted in social media for more. Kim Guillemette is a NCSBA Master Craftsman Beekeeper and a beekeeper for the Tarpy Lab at NC State University. She previously served as a Honey Bee Health Specialist with Bee Informed Partnership and currently serves as NCSBA Senior Regional Director for the Coastal Region and Education Coordinator for Beekeepers of the Neuse.

In this month’s presentation, Kim will share her journey from bee school to professional beekeeper in less than 10 years, offering insight into the unique experiences, challenges, and opportunities she encountered while transitioning from hobbyist to professional beekeeper.

June 1 Workshop - Does 18.6% mean anything to you? It better if you’re a beekeeper! You must know the moisture level of your honey in order for it not to ferment after you extract it.

Wait! Don’t the honey bees instinctively know the moisture level before they cap it with wax? With all this rain we’ve had, it can be tricky. The best way to test your honey at home is with a refractometer, and we will show you how. Bring your good eyesight and maybe a sample of your honey, and we will let you test your honey with the club’s refractometer at our June club meeting.
