United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County applied for and has received 125,000 reusable cotton face coverings through “Project America Strong” to distribute reusable cotton face coverings in support of critical infrastructure areas across the country.

If you represent a nonprofit or grassroots organization in your community and need face coverings, please complete this request form: https://supplyconnector.org/wnc-masks/ Per FEMA guidelines, the coverings are to be used for staff and volunteers (infrastructure support). The minimum order is 100 and maximum order is 500 masks. If your organization cannot fulfill the minimum order, please connect with a fellow organization to combine your orders and submit under one request.

Equity is such an important consideration in how we respond to public health crisis. The Institute for Diversity and Inclusion in Emergency Management (I-DIEM) is hosting an emergency conference call on March 13th at 2:00pm-3:00pm EST to discuss the Coronavirus pandemic and the impacts on marginalized groups and communities of color. During this important virtual convening, experts will provide specific input related to ensuring an equitable public health disaster response to all vulnerable groups.
