So heart broken to see the devastation that our friends in the Dominican Republic are experiencing due to the sudden flash floods that occurred yesterday evening. We are sending relief aid and hoping that Serve to LEAD supporters in the US will help us out. If you'd like to contribute to our relief efforts, including basic material needs and support for our school which was flooded, please give through our website at goservetolead.org or via the STL Venmo . 100% of gifts benefit the communities we serve.

The Serve To LEAD team just returned from Sri Lanka and celebrates the hope and restoration that is happening as bathrooms are built, education programs spread, and homes are constructed, bringing safety, better health, and inspiring personal growth. Of all the stories, the one of Ranjani and her daughters, pictured in front of their new home, is a powerful example of the profound impact our donors make in the lives of those we serve. Becoming a widow with the sudden death of her husband, she lost more than a partner—she lost her home. Ranjani faced instability and uncertainty. Through the combined efforts of Serve To LEAD and our partners, United Christian Fellowship of Sri Lanka, we provided her family with a new home. Today, Ranjani works at a local hospital, and her daughters are thriving in school. We are deeply grateful to our supporters for making such life-changing impacts possible.

Around 60 percent of the world's population— 4.5 billion people— either have no toilet at home or one that doesn't safely manage human waste. Nearly 900 million people still practice open defecation, going into fields, forests, open bodies of water, or other open spaces instead of using a toilet, resulting in serious health and safety risks. Contact with human waste can cause serious diseases such as cholera, typhoid, hepatitis, polio, diarrhea, worm infestation, and malnutrition. Every day, more than 700 children under age 5—about one every two minutes—die from diarrhea due to unsafe drinking water, poor sanitation, or poor hygiene.

Serve To LEAD is grateful to all our donors who help us continue building toilets and showers, improving the health, safety, and well-being of thousands of families worldwide.

Serve To LEAD club students at Charles D. Owen High School are hard at work giving their time to make washable sanitary pads for women in Haiti. This is a vital project that helps keep women in school, at work, and living healthier lives. These will be sent in December along with hygiene items and gift boxes for the children we serve across the region. Big thanks to our club members who care for our community near and far!
