We've had a great week with Serve To LEAD club students from Charles D. Owen High School here in the Dominican Republic! We can't believe tomorrow is Friday! The first week of summer camp has flown by. The Serve to Lead DR community center students are learning so much about creation care and today, made beautiful flower and clay ornaments. Tomorrow we have our first summer field trip to a local beach to continue learning about being stewards of the planet. So much fun!

Today we celebrated Kenie Martinez, our Serve to Lead DR assistant teacher! As we celebrate her birthday, I think back to when she was a teenager in our summer program. It's always a blessing to see teens grow into adults who give back to their communities and teach the next generation to grow to their greatest potential and share their talents with others. Today our kiddos in the Serve to Lead DR summer camp learned about different climates around the world and made weather wheels. They are loving having students here from Charles D. Owen High School! The students are making the community center look beautiful after catastrophic flooding damaged our center in April. We are thankful to have such a talented group spending their time this summer bringing joy to others and building lasting friendships.

Our 3-week environmental stewardship camp has begun! Led by Serve To LEAD Global Leadership Academy intern Kendall Grogan, the children spent the day learning about local ecosystems. Our fabulous team from the Serve To LEAD club at Charles D. Owen High School helped the children fill their terrariums and spent the afternoon designing new creation care murals for the Serve to Lead DR community center. The fun has just begun!

So heart broken to see the devastation that our friends in the Dominican Republic are experiencing due to the sudden flash floods that occurred yesterday evening. We are sending relief aid and hoping that Serve to LEAD supporters in the US will help us out.
