The Empowered Village

The Empowered Village The Empowered Village provides nurturing programing for children, families, and early childhood professionals.

The Open Hearts Village is an organization that is blossoming into a nourishing source of support for families in the Asheville, NC area. We offer a monthly Parent's Night Out, childcare over the holidays and summer months, family enrichment nights, and a sharing circle for early childhood professionals. We acknowledge that parents are the child's first teachers and encourage bridging between fam

ilies and the larger community to enrich, nurture, and support each other like a true village. Healing Hearts is a branch of our organization that offers an online support group to mothers who are healing from an emotionally abusive relationship. One of our goals is to raise money and collect donations for these women so that they can experience a true healing session, retreat, or supplement. Many are single mothers and are not able to afford any type of care or therapy. We also look forward to creating a local support group which gathers in the Asheville area.

Some of you may have noticed that The Open Hearts Village has been changed recently to The Empowered Village. This new name is perfect. It encompasses our beginnings in The Empowered Child as well as the intentions that we have for our community! Our page will be edited soon to reflect the changes! Stay tuned for up and coming plans!!

"What should young people do with their lives today? Many things, obviously. But the most daring thing is to create stable communities in which the terrible disease of loneliness can be cured."

"Education reform should be about CULTIVATING change makers, good decision makers, and healthy risk takers rather than TRAINING text dependent thinkers and proficient multiple choice test takers."

"It is a difficult but maturing task to tend that which is growing; it s an act which asks us to cultivate a sense of watchfulness in order to deeply know the nature of the being we are assisting. The challenging task of how to nurture requires deep listening to an inner voice which wisely informs our decision making. This listening necessitates courage to follow with actions that don't always instantly move us forward, but sometimes guide us to wait, cut back, pull up , and say no in order for growth and blossoming to occur." ~ Judith Berger "Herbal Rituals"

This is one of the most powerful things I have seen on social media lately. I (Ms. Stephanie) consider it a "must watch and share" for everyone involved in our society. Especially if you have children in your lives!

Let children walk with Nature, let them see the beautiful blendings and communions of death and life, their joyous inseparable unity, as taught in woods and meadows, plains and mountains and streams of our blessed star, and they will learn that death is stingless indeed, and as beautiful as life.

March's Parent's Night out was a blast! We had heard a rumor that there had been a leprechaun playing on the playground earlier that day; when we went out to look, we found that he had spilled gold coins all over! The coins were hid in the strangest places! The children painted wooden treasure chests to store their gold in and then built leprechaun traps and houses to take home!

This looks like a great online course for parents of young children as well as early childhood teachers and caregivers. Ms. Stephanie is excited to be registered for it! http://lifewaysnorthamerica.org/workshop-and-consultation/home-model-life-curriculum-0

Join Cynthia and Mary for a four-week course exploring how the best curriculum for the young child springs from life itself. Learn how Life, the Child, the Adult and the Environment all form the perfect learning ground for the young child, whether at home or in childcare/preschool.
