Guess who just became our 10th Commute Friendly WNC participant? Liberty Bicycles!!

Around half of the Liberty Bikes employees ride bikes to work on a regular basis. They have on-site showers. They're right on a bus route. Unsurprisingly, they have bicycle fix-stations, bicycling resources available on site, indoor bike parking, and discounts at a local bike shop for their employees. πŸ˜‰ This one's a no-brainer. They're a GOLD Commute Friendly Workplace, joining the ranks of New Belgium Brewing, Asheville City Government, and Buncombe County Government.

Now, because they're partnering with Go Mountain, their employees get access to even more multimodal resources - and their customers too!

Thanks for the partnership, Liberty! We look forward to working with you to spread the love of two-wheeled transportation! πŸš²πŸ’—

"As of Sept. 30, the total projected construction cost is $26,220,000; the total projected design cost is $3,786,849.

β€œThis is a very big deal to say we’ve got the money to build the trail,” said Aaron Baker, a Brevard city council member and co-chair of [the Ecusta Trail Advisory Board].

The construction costs include 8 miles of a 12-foot wide paved trail, signalized crossings, concrete-decked bridges, improved drainage, retaining walls, fencing, screening landscaping, half-mile markers and two covered bench areas. "

"Great Trails State Day is a special day just for North Carolina to celebrate our diverse networks of all types of trails – walking, cycling, running, paddling, climbing and equestrian.

This year, Great Trails State Day will occur on Saturday, October 17.

Look for events across the state or find a trail on your own. No matter where you are in North Carolina in October, it’s a beautiful time of year to be outside exploring our beautiful state on a trail!

Great Trails State Day was first celebrated on October 21, 2023, as part of NC’s Year of the Trail. Now, with official designation, Great Trails State Day will happen every year on the 3rd Saturday in October!" - Friends of Ecusta Trail Newsletter
