Cutting down more forests is not the answer to the wildfire crisis.

A new bill promotes biomass as a wildfire solution. But expanding logging to supply biomass comes with serious risks.

Mature forests help keep temperatures lower, retain moisture, & slow the winds that can spread flames.

When forests are heavily logged, more exposed ground and dry vegetation can increase fire risks.

We need policies that protect healthy forests & communities, not ones that use wildfire fears to justify more forest destruction.

🌳 Forest defense is our best wildfire defense.

The UK spends about $1.1 billion each year subsidizing Drax, a major biomass energy producer.

Those subsidies support an industry linked to forest destruction in the US South, including the loss of habitat that wildlife like woodpeckers need to survive.

The UK plans to cut these subsidies in half starting next year. That's progress, but it's not enough.

Public money should not support forest destruction anywhere.

On this International Day of Action, we're calling on UK leaders to end subsidies for Drax & invest in real climate solutions.

Our forests should not be sacrificed to power the AI boom.

As more data centers are built, some elected leaders & energy companies are pushing biomass as a way to meet growing electricity demand.

But burning forests to power servers is not a climate solution.

Biomass production creates harmful air pollution, puts pressure on Southern forests, & threatens the health of nearby communities.

We cannot build a cleaner future by expanding an industry that causes so much harm.

In Gloster, Mississippi, Greater Greener Gloster, is working to protect the community from the biomass industry's impact.

Living near a Drax wood pellet facility, residents have raised concerns about air pollution, harmful dust, & their health.

Through community education, outreach, & local organizing, Greater Greener Gloster is helping residents make their voices heard & fight for the healthy future they deserve.

You can't fight the climate crisis by destroying one of our greatest climate solutions.

Forests absorb carbon, help regulate temperatures, protect wildlife, & reduce the impacts of extreme weather.

Yet the biomass industry cuts down trees & burns them for energy, releasing stored carbon into the atmosphere.

Calling this process renewable doesn't erase the damage.

We need climate solutions that protect & restore forests, not ones that turn them into fuel.

Drax promised clean energy, jobs, and economic growth. Southern communities are paying the price.

Drax's wood pellet operations have polluted communities with harmful dust and air pollution. The company has violated pollution rules more than 18,000 times.

Meanwhile, Drax continues to benefit from massive public subsidies while forests are destroyed to fuel its operations.

No community should have to sacrifice its health for corporate profits.
