Some downtown businesses don't just sell things...they make you feel *alive* 💫⭐

We're talking about the galleries where a painting stops you cold, the jewelry cases where something handmade feels like it was made just for you, the makers' shops where you walk out inspired to create something yourself. (Isn't it the BEST feeling?!) We're calling them our ✨ Luminous Threads ✨

This June, we're joining the 's Fabric of Downtown celebration — a community-wide initiative honoring the independent businesses, stories, and creativity that stitch downtown together. Follow along all month for our series!

Ahh marketing: a necessary evil...and delight, if you do it right! 😇😈 But *how* to market? And what platform(s) to choose?! We're here to help you start breaking it down ➡

The truth is: there IS no universal "right answer" for whether Instagram, email, or good ol' fashioned word-of-mouth will move the needle for *your* business. (And spoiler alert: you do not have to do all three unless you want to and have the capacity!)

What we DO know: the channel you'll show up for ✨consistently + authentically✨ is worth more than the "best" one you never quite get around to.

Swipe through for our (oh-so-humble, non-algorithmic) take 😉 and then tell us what's actually working for YOU right now!! Because real answers from real WNC business owners? Worth 1000x more than any marketing stat you'll find ♥

The City of Asheville is seeking feedback on a proposed amendment to its CDBG-DR Action Plan focused on accelerating housing recovery after Tropical Storm Helene.

The proposal redirects funding to expand the Renew NC Single-Family Housing Program, helping more Asheville families repair and return to their homes. If approved, the program allocation would increase from $3 million to $22.2 million, enough to support repairs or reconstruction for an estimated 55 to 65 homes.

Key dates include:
🗓 Public comment period: May 15 – June 14
📍 Public hearing: Asheville City Council meeting on Tuesday, June 9

Residents can review the proposed amendment through the Asheville Recovers website, www.AshevilleRecovers.org, beginning May 15, or request a physical copy at City Hall (70 Court Plaza).

Community members are encouraged to submit comments and questions by June 14 to: [email protected] or on publicinput.com/b82874

Accessibility accommodations are available. Contact ADA Coordinator Brad Stein at [email protected] or 828-259-5687 by Tuesday, June 3.
