Asheville Tool Library The Asheville Tool Library is like a normal library but instead of books you get to check out tools! Asheville Tool Library is a 501c3 nonprofit.

Mission: The Asheville Tool Library provides low cost access to a wide range of tools, literature, and knowledge to citizens of Asheville and its surrounding communities. The volunteer-driven project aims to encourage creativity, entrepreneurship and community development in Western NC. Vision: The Asheville Tool Library envisions a resilient, skilled, and engaged community with direct access to the tools and resources necessary for a thriving, regenerative culture.

A sharp tool is a happy and safe tool!!

Come join us for this fundraiser for our maintenance department!

What we sharpen (up to 3 tools per person):
Yard tools: mower blades, shovels, hoes, edgers, pruners, loppers, shears
Chainsaws
Axes, mauls & hatchets
Kitchen knives & scissors
Sign up in advance. We take 3 people every half hour, so please arrive on time.
$10 reserves your spot and helps prevent no-shows.

This volunteer-run event raises money for AvlTL’s maintenance department, so we suggest a donation of $3–5 per tool.

One free spot is held at the top of every hour. Please use it only if the cost would keep you from coming.

One week left to get your tickets! Join Carmen of Carmen | Feral Farms Beekeeping to learn everything you need to know about honeybees including bee biology, communication, behavior, and so much more!

This lecture-based workshop will take a comprehensive look into the inner workings of a honeybee hive. Starting with the basic question, “what is a bee?,” participants will dive deep into bee biology, behavior, and how these crucial pollinators interact with native species, agricultural systems, humans and the environment. This class will be followed by Beekeeping 102, “The Ins and Outs of Beekeeping”.

Walk away with the foundation and knowledge to become a responsible steward of these small but mighty pollinator friends and a copy of the “All About Bees” presentation.

There are so many rad things happening at the Fall Yard Sale this Saturday. Join us to contribute fireflies to our community mural! This is the first step in our barn quilt inspired, “for the love of tools” mural that will bring new life to our home!

Special thanks to Buncombe County Government and ArtsAVL for awarding us a grant to bring this vision to life!

Participation in the community mural is free and all ages are welcome. No experience needed and we will have seated positions available. Se habla español!

Ready to level up your sewing? If you’ve made a garment or two but want your clothes to look polished, stay strong, and last forever, this class is for you. Learn how to finish your seams so they look just as beautiful on the inside as they do on the outside.

Participants will make sample swatches of various types of finish as time allows and get a chance to prioritize stitches based on interest. Walk away with a take-home technique guide, your sample swatches, and the skills to perfect your garments using a variety of seam finishes. Limited equitable access tickets available.

RSVP not required but appreciated so we can prepare supplies!

Bring your coffee or tea and join the Upcycle Craft Club for an easy morning of crafting and community as we divert items from the landfill and choose crafting over consumerism!

This month we will be upcycling old books into whimsical mobiles! 
We will have a handful of found and thrifted items, twine, adhesives, scrap fabric and more. 

BRING YOUR OWN BOOK! 

Other things to consider bringing:
Buttons, keys, bells, feathers, ribbons, pine cones, dried flowers, bits and bobs. 

Suggested donation of $5-$20. This event is 18+

The Asheville Tool Library is turning 10, and we’re celebrating with our biggest Yard Sale yet!

Since opening our doors in 2016, we’ve grown into a volunteer-powered, member-funded library of 4,000+ tools shared by 1,600 households across Western North Carolina.
Come party with us and stock up on hundreds of power tools, hand tools and so much more.
Cash preferred; Venmo and card accepted.

On demand Screen printing — donation based, bring your own shirt!

Plant sale and family-friendly activities in the garden

Community mural — grab a brush and leave your mark!
