An integral part of our mission at ARISE and through our nonprofit affiliate Arise Alliance Inc. is free field education for all who want to participate. At Shakori, this meant festival first aid, Narcan training (with a two-year certification!), and deescalation taught by our founder, Laine Paterson, and our prized team member, Trinlay. Receiving this knowledge as a participant could save a life, calm a situation, and give you the tools to support your community. Teaching these skills and lessons is a huge privilege for us, and everyone can leave the circle with something useful. Holding space for these conversations, and talking through scenarios gives insight into many possible situations. If you are at an event with us, take advantage of this knowledge! We aim to deliver this education at every event we participate in, and I hope we get to see you next time.
Let us know in the comments if you have ever joined in and what your takeaway was!
See you all soon!

Fall Shakori Festival of Music & Dance 2026! Everyone worked hard, worked together, and continued to support this community in the ways we know best. We were so grateful to have such an amazing team this year, some of whom are not pictured but are in our hearts and memories. Thank you to all of the truly beautiful minds and hands that make Shakori, we are determined to preserve this amazing culture, support everyone, and continue on serving our communities.
Thank you to all who participated in our classes this year! The rain put a damper on our original times, but our founder Laine Paterson and our lead safety Trinlay taught Narcan training and deescalation nonetheless. More on that later!
We can't wait to see you again soon, thank y'all, we love you!

This statue at the Brevard Music Center has always been a pretty one, but with the passing of the world's beloved Dolly Parton, it has taken on new meaning. She touched all of our lives, and seeing this beautiful butterfly in her bed of blooming flowers brings a sentiment and sweetness to this statue. Her philanthropy touched millions of lives, including our mailbox with her Imagination Library and her disaster relief efforts in WNC after Helene. Seeing this statue every year while ARISE does what we do best is a reminder of perseverance, strength, and tender love and care. We love and miss you, Dolly! 🦋

Honeybee H**p Fest is this weekend, y’all! 2 days of live music and workshops, including classes taught by our very own members of ARISE! Our emergency de-escalation classes will be taught DAILY and we’re stoked to be back again this year supporting this wonderful community.
Here is a little bit about Honeybee H**p Farms: Our mission is to support the pollinator population and address addictive patterns, with a focus on the opioid epidemic. These commitments are underpinned by delivering effective wellness products, practicing regenerative-farming techniques, and providing resources intended to help all beings reconnect with themselves and our precious world.
See you all there! 🌸🐝

We were all so stoked to be back in this community again even Bobert lost an eye! Working within relationships that have lasted years brings joy to our hearts and passion in our protection. Supporting and uplifting our festival makers and event goers is what we do best, and we were happy to be back with the Big Something to support their BIG Weekend! We love you!!
