Greetings WNC folk!
Writing this morning to let you all know and ask for support in helping to shape the world within which we dwell! The Asheville Parks and Rec strategic plan (link in comments) is open for public comment and I know most of us have lived in AVL at one time or another and we qualify to provide feedback!
It's 90 pages and I've skimmed it and it's quite impressive, and there are 3 points that I'm asking you to emphasize on the feedback form (see link in comments).
By all means add your own flavored points too!

What an in-depth plan you have created, excellent job!
I'm writing today to ask for emphasis and expansion around the following aspects of the master plan:
1. Specific goals and strategies around expanding edible landscaping (perennials) on public park land as well as devotion of resources to care for current fruit and nut trees.
2. Specific goals and strategies around myco-remediation and charcoal-remediation of polluted waterways that are park-adjacent.
3. Specific goals and strategies around Community Gardens and support for their establishment and maintenance particularly in low-income areas and Section 8 housing.

None of the above is entirely absent, yet I fear without strong public support they will not receive the adequate care and attention needed to enact them fully!
