Hello to everyone that’s following this page. Thanks for hanging in there. Asheville’s been through a lot but, we’re back!
A small group of us met the other night (Wednesday 4-22) for a few games of backgammon. Kerri and I went to meet some “die-hards” and get a couple of games in and the venue (Little Jumbo) is great and all playing levels were well represented.
To briefly introduce myself, my name is Bill Shea and I’m tag-teaming with Oby Morgan who started The Asheville Backgammon Club, and I’ll be putting some dates on the calendar for Club game nights. I hope to get it back up to speed as well as entice some new players.
The plan is to foster an easy means to meet, either learn or assist/teach new players and compete locally all while enjoying some of the great and unique venues here in beautiful Asheville.
Backgammon is as SIMPLE to learn as checkers (and, can be as complex as chess) and is growing all over the US. While Kerri and I are long-time players, we are, by no means, “good” or tournament caliber players. But we love the game. We are well capable of teaching the basics and really want to see this game grow.
Invite Friends, too!!!
So, stay tuned. If you choose to join us, please let us know that you will (head count) and, if you’ll be bringing a board (board count). A board is not an imperative as we’ll be bringing several, just in case.
