CONCERT BAND: Students coming into the band program, as ninth graders should sign-up for Concert Band. The concert Band curriculum gives students time to mature and grow as musicians, without being overly competitive or pressured to perform. Fundamentals and basics, especially with regard to process and consistency, are emphasized in this class. Concert Band enrolls 9th through 12th grade students

and students must register for both Fall and Spring semesters. SYMPHONIC WINDS: This is an advanced class for which an AUDITION is required! Students are expected to practice and perform at the highest level. Maturity is expected and we hope to challenge the students musically, intellectually, technically and conceptually. Symphonic Winds enrolls 9th through 12th grade students and students must register for both Fall and Spring semesters. Reynolds we are able to give two semesters of Honors Credit to students participating in either band class. Honors Band functions as a “class within a class” meeting at the same time as the Symphonic Winds class. In addition to expectations for the Symphonic Winds band students are expected to prepare for, and take auditions for NC All- County and NC All-District Bands. Dodson’s permission is required prior to registering for this course. Once approved students must register for both Fall and Spring semesters. Dodson organizes other after school music opportunities for students including:
Jazz Band that generally starts up after marching season goes on the relaxed schedule and requires an audition;
Small Ensembles of Brass Quintet(s), Woodwind Quintet(s), Sax Quartet, Flute Quartet and Clarinet Choir to name just a few. Reynolds Bands have accomplished great things over the years:
2009 – Symphonic Winds and Chorale performed a series of concerts in The Peoples Republic of China as the guest of the United States– China Cultural Educational Foundation.
2007 – Symphonic Winds performed on the stage of Carnegie Hall at the “Field Studies International Winter Music Festival.”
2005 – Symphonic Winds performed on the stage of Carnegie Hall at the “National Concert Band Festival.”

The Jazz Band sets the tone of summer with an evening of tunes!✨🎷🎶🎺

Just this past Thursday, the band played for a full house and it was a blast!! A huge thank you to for hosting us on such a nice night. What a way to kick off summer!!

For some of our band students, a night like this is their way of really showing their love for music. Many students feel strong about performing for the public as it is much different than a typical band concert. Lead alto saxophone player, Micah DeLoughery (12), even included that his favorite part of playing for the public is “bringing the joy I get from listening and playing jazz to as many people as possible and hope that they feel inspired in any way.”

Many of the jazz students participate in many of our other ensembles, from marching band to pit orchestra, and even some in the ACRHS Chorale, so the opportunity to perform in this environment is a huge success.

For some students, a chance like this is a way of drumming up support for young musicians. Trumpet player, Lennon Ross (10) adds, “Us young musicians are the future of music so we need all the help and support we can get.”

Way to go Rocket Jazz Band on another year of amazing music and another great performance!!!

Band Banquet 2026🎶✨🎊

The band program celebrated its year of successes with a wonderful evening honoring many of our own band students. From the concerts, to Italy, to the individual awards and scholarships it was a great night looking it all over.

A special thank you to our amazing seniors who have left an incredible mark on the band program, shown amongst each other and everyone else that was present in that room.

We were also thrilled to honor Mr. Greg Love, who is finishing his last year as band director at AC Reynolds Middle School and has created such an amazing program there.

A huge thank you to Lydia Stamm and all that she has done this year for band, percussion and her help with awards that night!!

Another special thank you to our wonderful chefs, Mrs Angela Guiffrida and Jamie Canton for a fantastic meal.

Thank yous Michael and Teresa Dickman, William Hoffart, Leigh Dodson, Sheila Garcia-Garmon, Larissa Bowman and others for their amazing help volunteering as well.

Congratulations to each band student on a fantastic year, it has been amazing!! Go Rocket band!!

Senior Recognition: Rachell Sessions🎺

Rachell will now be one of many Reynolds’ students to have or currently be a part of the PoTM. They are all role models for our students of what the band can prepare you for! Let’s go Rachell!!

One of the amazing aspects about our band program is how much the students excel in and outside rehearsals!!

Our students show that every day!! There are many examples of this within the classrooms.

This student spotlight features Madison McGee, Micah DeLoughery and Bradley Dodson! These awesome students not only succeed in band, but also are ranked in the top 15 of their graduating class like many other of our current and past students. Awesome job!!!

Senior (especially band), summer, etc spotlight? Send a DM to Sam, for a feature!!
