The Harris Teeter VolunTeeters rolled up their sleeves at the 3rd Annual Pack to Give Back event at the WNC Ag Center.

Alongside 200 volunteers from 17 organizations across Western North Carolina, our team helped pack food for neighbors facing food insecurity. Together, volunteers packaged more than 24,000 pounds of dried beans for distribution through local partner agencies.

As demand for food assistance continues to rise across the region, we're honored to support organizations like MANNA FoodBank and help make a difference in the communities we serve.

Thank you to our incredible VolunTeeters for living our commitment to giving back. 💙

We are incredibly grateful for our longstanding partnership with Ingles Markets. They continue to be our leading food donor here at MANNA, and their generosity has filled the table of so many families in WNC.

In celebration of the grand opening of their new store in Fletcher, their team graciously donated $10,000 to our mission. We cannot thank Ingles enough for this continued partnership.

In honor of nearly five decades of partnership with MANNA FoodBank and in celebration of the upcoming grand opening of its new flagship store in South Fletcher, Ingles Markets proudly presented MANNA with a $10,000 donation.

For almost 50 years, Ingles and MANNA FoodBank have worked side by side to serve Western North Carolina communities, helping provide food and support to neighbors in need. Ingles is honored to continue this longstanding partnership and invest in the important work MANNA does every day.

MANNA goes solar! We're proud to partner with our friends at Footprint Project on increasing resiliency and sustainability in WNC. After Hurricane Helene, Footprint Project brought "microgrids," small solar setups - from portable-sized to trailer-sized - to people in the region. Their units supported people who had lost their homes and were living in RVs with expensive generators, people who went weeks or months without power restored to their homes, and more.

Now, they're sharing their work with MANNA. They donated 2 "Cooler Bees," refrigerated trailers that run on 100% solar power, allowing MANNA to keep essential food safe and portable in the event of an emergency or power outage event. But we're not stopping here - MANNA is also excited to soon begin installation of a large solar grid on the roof of our warehouse. Renewable energy isn't just sustainable - it offers lower electric bills, resiliency in disaster, cleaner air and water for our neighbors, and safety for the land we get our food from!

Last week, we held an educational event with some other renewable energy nonprofit partners, state and local government representatives, and other friends of MANNA to celebrate this gift and learn more about how renewable energy can support food banking and areas affected by disaster! Nearly 100,000 people across MANNA FoodBank’s 16-county Western North Carolina service area were enrolled in SNAP as of April 2025. SNAP helps families afford groceries, supports local retailers and farmers, and strengthens communities, especially as our region continues recovering and rebuilding.

But new federal changes could shift major SNAP costs to North Carolina, putting pressure on state and county budgets and creating uncertainty for families who rely on food assistance.

Food banks are essential, but we cannot replace SNAP. For every 1 meal provided by food banks, SNAP provides 9.

SNAP is shaped by several federal policy decisions, including the Farm Bill and annual agriculture funding. Right now, those decisions could affect how North Carolina administers SNAP and whether families continue to receive reliable food assistance.

Yesterday, we had the honor of hosting our 3rd Annual Pack to Give Back event at the WNC Ag Center.

200 volunteers from 17 teams across Western North Carolina’s corporate community came together with a shared purpose: to feed our neighbors. Together, they packed over 24,000 pounds of beans, which will be distributed to our partner agencies and into the hands of our neighbors in the days ahead.

We’re deeply grateful to our incredible sponsors, partners, and pack teams for coming together to help feed our region, one bag of beans at a time.

Thank you to Harrah's Cherokee Casino Resort, Cigna Healthcare, Fred Anderson Subaru, Beverly-Grant, Inc., FedUp Foods, First Horizon Bank, HCA Healthcare, Hunter Subaru, Mountain Air Mechanical Contractors, Inc., Aeroflow Health, GE Aerospace, Harris Teeter, Modera Wealth Management, LLC, New Belgium Brewing,Poppy Hand-Crafted Popcorn, Premier Sotheby's International Realty, and Sierra Nevada Brewing Company for participating!

You may have heard that Top Chef featured Asheville's food scene and Appalachian cuisine in a recent episode - but did you know they donated all the leftover food and ingredients to MANNA? Their donation totaled nearly 5,000 lbs and was made up of many types of food that are necessary for cooking but often hard to find in the charitable food system - ingredients like butter and salt that make food fun and tasty!

We are so grateful to Top Chef for featuring our community as it rebuilds and for giving back to our neighbors while they were here!
