Scouting America Daniel Boone Council is thrilled to honor Western Carolina University Chancellor Kelli R. ONLY 2 DAYS LEFT‼️‼️

Have you taken the NEW Safeguarding Youth Training yet?

Make sure you complete it before Sunday, May 31, 2026, as that is when Youth Protection Training (YPT) expires and is fully replaced by Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT).

If it is not taken by the expire date, your current membership will be expired!!!

Youth Protection Training (YPT) has been replaced by the new Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT). This training is required for all registered Scouting America volunteers and is a mandatory requirement for membership.

________________________________________
Scouting America places the highest priority on maintaining a safe environment for all youth members. One key component of this commitment is ensuring that all leaders are properly trained in Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT).

The volunteer leadership of the Daniel Boone Council Executive Board has adopted a resolution requiring that every adult leader maintain a current SYT certification at all times. Failure to maintain current certification will result in the suspension of your registration, at which point you will no longer be permitted to serve as an adult leader.

Scouting America sends automated email reminders regarding SYT expiration at 90, 60, 30, and 15 days prior to the expiration date. In addition, the Daniel Boone Council will also begin sending reminder notifications at least three months in advance of expiration.

SYT certifications are valid for one year. We strongly encourage all leaders to renew their SYT prior to expiration to avoid any interruption in registration status. Please note that if your registration expires due to a lapse in SYT, no registration fee refunds will be issued. Additionally, lapses in registration may negatively impact both your unit and the Scouts we serve.

If your registration expires due to failure to renew SYT on time, reinstatement will require completion of the SYT training again, followed by submission of a new adult leader application at www.beascout.org and payment of full registration fees for a new 12-month term.

We appreciate your commitment to maintaining the safest possible environment for our youth. Please ensure your SYT is renewed prior to its expire date to avoid any disruption in your registration or unit participation.
If you are no longer serving in a unit role, please notify us accordingly.

➡️ The new 20-minute Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT) Refresher is available for those who have already completed the full 90-minute course.
➡️ If your SYT has been expired for 7 days or more, you must retake the full 90-minute course.

As Memorial Day approaches, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. Their courage, dedication, and selfless service will never be forgotten. We are forever grateful to the men and women of our armed forces—past and present—for their sacrifices in protecting what matters most.

As a reminder, in observance of Memorial Day, the Daniel Boone Council Service Center and the Asheville Scout Shop will both be closed on Monday, May 25th. We will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, May 26th.
