PaganCentric A home for the first to fall. We exist primarily to shine a bright, searing light into the dark corners which tend to go unnoticed by many Pagans.

We serve the Pagan community, whatever path its individual members may follow. We are driven by, and dedicated to, the premise that whenever any culture reaches a crisis moment in its history, it has historically been Pagans who suffer first. That is why we use the phrase "A home for the first to fall". When popular culture needs a scapegoat during times of transition, it is those of the many Paga

n faiths who are most often blamed. We intend to build resistance to that trend, if we must do it one brick at a time.

A good, thoughtful read for those of us who are conflicted between our religious observances and secular Halloween celebrations.

"Every Halloween we have the witch talk. A witch is not a costume," says Susanne McCrea, a Winnipeg-based writer and activist who practices witchcraft.

The creator of the piece, sculptor Sandy Brown, said she was “saddened and baffled” by the comments from the church, “When I was making her it never occurred to me for one second. She is not religious, she is celebrating Mother Earth and is made of clay to celebrate the area’s heritage.”

A ceramic sculpture by artist Sandy Brown that was commissioned by St. Austell to celebrate and reflect the region's historical connections to the china clay industry has seven Christian leaders up in arms.

This article explores a pretty interesting idea, that modern Christianity even stole the idea of an afterlife and Heaven from "Pagan" philosophers such as Plato. It also examines how contemporary Christian beliefs regarding an afterlife (ie when the soul escapes the body and ascend to Heaven) is at odds with early Christian concepts, in which the Earth itself would be renewed and human bodies reinstated, with a New Jerusalem descending down from the heavens to join a renewed Earth.

As the article states, when Christians believe their eternal destiny involves vacating a doomed earth, they usually exhibit little interest in caring for their God’s beautiful creation. Better to take and use what you can, while you’re here before being lofted away to an eternal, ghostly existence.

Whatever your religious or philosophical leanings, this is an interesting read, and an interesting take.

Next Friday (April 22), over a billion people around the world will commemorate Earth Day. It is the third most widely celebrated secular holiday after New Year's and International Workers’

“I can’t believe people are still telling me I’m a witch because I wear black,” Stevie Nicks said.

Her longtime publicist, Liz Rosenberg, explained that the rumors about Nicks’ witchcraft were essentially just a misunderstanding about the meaning behind “Rhiannon.”

Stevie Nicks once had to make a statement after a high school claimed she was a witch and worshipped Satan. Here's what she said about it.

Practicing witches are using past mistreatment to inspire a new feminist movement among their ranks globally, with a goal of erasing the stigma surrounding witchcraft.

It took shape when Scotland formally apologized for its misogynistic witch trials of more than 500 years ago.

On 20 March, druids, witches, and lovers of nature will gather to celebrate the spring equinox, one of the eight festivals of the Wheel of the Year. For millennia, the spring equinox was celebrated across cultures as a time of fertility, creativity, and renewal. But spring celebrations are not just for people who want to greet the dawn at Stonehenge. Here are a few ideas to try out this year at home.

“What seemed impossible in the dark months of winter can seem possible now.”

During the sermon, Locke repeatedly told his congregants he was not lying to them, going so far as to swear on the Bible that he was telling the truth about his encounters with demons, saying that if he lied about that, “what won’t I lie to you about?” Well? He just said the quiet part out loud, didn't he? ;-)

Tenn. preacher Greg Locke, known for preaching on election fraud and COVID-19 skepticism, says demons told him names of witches in his church

I understand why people dislike the term “Baby Witch," but it just doesn’t bug me. I find it endearing. It makes me think of Kiki’s Delivery Service.

More and more young people are identifying as witches and it might have something to do with the pandemic.

We all remain.

We Remain It’s been a long time. I decided to post something here in defiance of the last few years. Like everyone else, a lot changed in 2019 and throughout 2020 especially. Now we’re well into 2021 and the world is trying to wake back up even as a darkness hovers over us. It seemed an importan...

A paper published in the journal Neuroscience & Biobehavioral Reviews focuses on mitochondria, which are organelles within cells. They have their own genome and generate the chemical energy needed to power life processes within the cell. The paper argues about some aspects of the mitochondria that touch on the philosophies deeply linked to a pagan awareness of nature.

The researchers argue that the mitochondria may do more than simply power the cells that keep us alive. They suggest that mitochondria are somehow interconnected with each other and are able to communicate and interact as social organisms – in other words, that the mitochondria have lives of their own.

Panpsychism, at least in the form as it is starting to be used in scientific conversations, does not suggest that the same level of consciousness is found everywhere. A grain of sand does not have the same consciousness as a beetle, nor would a human have the same level of consciousness as a higher species, say a cat. But it does argue that a common elementary consciousness is pervasive throughout the universe.
