Some cars carry more than passengers. They carry stories. 💙 This beautiful 1950 Ford Custom Deluxe has been part of one family since 1951. For more than 75 years, it held memories, milestones, Sunday drives, ordinary days and probably more stories than we could ever fit into one post.

After the passing of his mother, its longtime owner, her son made the incredibly meaningful decision to donate the car to Working Wheels. And he brought along something pretty special: the original 1950 owner’s manual. We’re honored to be entrusted with a piece of their family’s history, and even more moved that its story will now help support our mission of keeping local families moving forward.

A car that has carried one family for generations will now help create possibilities for another. ❤️

Our friends at Mëhfil are turning gratitude into generosity. 💚 After Hurricane Helene, our WNC community showed up for each other. Now, Mëhfil is saying thank you in the best way: with a free community lunch.

On Wednesday, September 23, from 11:30 AM–2:00 PM, Mehfil is inviting the community to join them for lunch completely free. And this year, they've invited Working Wheels to be part of it. 🧡We'll be there giving guests the opportunity to pay that kindness forward with an optional donation to help local families access reliable transportation. No donation is required. Come enjoy some incredible food, celebrate the kind of community that shows up for one another, and stop by our table to say hello.

Seeing your car on the back of a tow truck is never a good feeling, especially when you still have work to get to and kids who need to get to school. For Gregory, a needed car repair didn’t mean putting life on hold. Through Working Wheels’ Vehicle Repair Program, he was able to get his car fixed at an affordable cost, and our loaner car program kept his family moving in the meantime. 🚗

“Having my car fixed by Working Wheels helped me save money, and thanks to their loaner car program, I was still able to get myself and my kids to work and school while my car was being fixed!”

Because sometimes the impact of a car repair isn’t just getting a vehicle back on the road. It’s making sure everything else doesn’t have to stop while you wait.💛

🚗 **New Community Partner!** 🧡

We’re excited to welcome Sharing House as a new referring partner for Working Wheels’ Vehicle Repair Program!

For 45 years, Sharing House has supported neighbors throughout Transylvania County with crisis assistance and programs designed to address hunger, poverty, and the barriers that can make it difficult for families to move toward greater stability. Now, eligible Sharing House participants will also have a pathway to access affordable vehicle repairs through Working Wheels.

Because when a car breaks down, the impact can reach far beyond the repair bill. Reliable transportation helps people get to work, make appointments, care for their families, and stay connected to the resources they need.

Meet Jessica. 🧡

When your car is how you get to work, care for your family, and manage everyday life, an unexpected repair can become a much bigger problem. For Jessica, reliable transportation was especially important as she navigated life with a newborn and prepared to return to work. Through Working Wheels’ Vehicle Repair Program, she was able to get the repairs she needed and keep moving forward.
