The Margie Barilla Foundation is hosting a National Foster Care Birthday Celebration on Sunday, August 30 at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Bostic, NC. This event is designed for children ages 5–17, with a full day of activities, connection, and birthday fun! πŸŽ‚β˜€οΈ

Kids can enjoy outdoor games, water activities, arts and crafts, a pizza party, and more. Each child will also receive lunch, a birthday bag, and balloons. πŸ’›

The 2026 Kinship Conference is coming to the Asheville area on October 17! Hosted by Foster Family Alliance of NC in partnership with NCDHHS, this event is an opportunity to connect, learn, and find resources specifically for families navigating kinship care. The day will include workshops, speakers, networking, practical resources, and more.

πŸ’™ Kinship caregivers can also access additional supports to help make attending possible, including free on-site childcare, travel reimbursement, and limited complimentary hotel accommodations.

Ready to use your lived experience to make a difference?

Peer Centered FIRST is now accepting applications for its next Peer Mentor Education Cohort!

This virtual training is designed for adults (18+) with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities who want to develop leadership skills, build confidence, and learn how to support others in their communities as peer mentors.

Participants will connect with fellow peers, practice real-world mentoring skills, and explore what it means to lead through lived experienceβ€”all in a supportive online learning environment.
