All Species Science Alliance

All Species Science Alliance The ASSA grew out of our love for the Southern Appalachian Mountains, but we find our reach now extends across the US and even to other countries.

All Species Science Alliance (ASSA) is an organization dedicated to facilitating the collaborative effort between citizens and scientists specializing in field research relating to biological diversity. By exploring the diverse flora and fauna on our planet with scientists, we not only contribute to science, and enrich our own lives, but help our communities engender a love for nature which will,

we believe, result in the conservation of biodiversity. While we will continue to work locally, our ultimate goal is to provide a home base for dedicated people willing to travel the country and globe to explore biodiversity through species inventories and other types of field research. Pulitzer Prize winning author, and world renowned conservation biologist, E.O. Wilson, coined the phrase “biodiversity.” He writes in his book, The Creation: “Addressing the identifications and classifications of organisms worldwide are just six thousand experts, of which about half reside in the United States, so to move the explorations of earth’s flora and fauna forward, the overworked researchers need more boots on the ground and more fresh ideas.”

Join forces with All Species Science Alliance and those boots on the ground can be yours!
