It's the season of the witch for the AFS tonight starting at 7:30 (no, not Halloween III — we couldn't fit it in as much as we tried). We've got the film that would sear Barbara Steele into the imaginations of impressionable teens for the next 60 years and also scored Roger Corman's AIP it's biggest box office hit to that point. Though Steele and director Mario Bava butted heads over the amount of cleavage shown, the result was one of the creepiest films ever to come out of Italy. Join us at Eurisko Beer Company tonight as we kick our unparalleled month of Halloween horror into high gear!

Karloff and Lugosi opposite Henry Daniell in one of the creepiest films of the '40s? 'Nuff Said! Join our continuing celebration of producer Val Lewton's indelible influence on genre film with this adaptation of a Robert Lewis Stevenson short story that will leave you checking the seat next to you on the drive home just to make sure it's empty. If you don't leave this one with Karloff's voice echoing in your head for a week, you're made of sterner stuff than I. "You'll never get rid of me!" tonight at 8:30, Eurisko Beer Company

Let me introduce you to Val Lewton, the most influential producer you've never heard of. Lewton was single handedly responsible for launching the careers of Mark Robson, Robert Wise, and Jaques Toureur, just to name a few. His literary approach to scripting would distinguish a series of low-budget B movies he produced at RKO in the '40s as some of the best films of their era, as well as launching a multitude of genre conventions that persist to this day. Come find out why you need to know the name Val Lewton tonight at Eurisko Beer Company, with a free screening starting at our new earlier show time, 8:15 P.M.

As HitchcAugust draws towards its inevitable conclusion, join us for our penultimate free screening tonight at Eurisko Beer Company, starting at 8:30, to see the master's best-known classic. To paraphrase Andrew Sarris, it's a film that needs to be seen at least three times; once for the sheer terror of the story, once to appreciate the black comedy underlying its conception and once more to study its hidden symbolism and visual metaphors. Whether it's your first viewing or your fiftieth, you'll never shower the same way again — Janet Leigh certainly didn't.

HitchcAugust continues tonight at Eurisko Beer Co. This evening we present a tale of obsession, oppression, and regression. Hitch’s first Hollywood Film (and only Best Picture winner) is the perfect snapshot of what was possible following what is widely considered one of the greatest years in film history. This 1940 film in many ways surpasses many of that famous year’s titles and inspired countless imitators from My Name Is Julia Ross to Phantom Thread. Free show starts tonight at 8:30.

We continue the month of masterworks that is HitchcAugust with my OTHER favorite, and potentially the most twisted of the master's suspense thrillers, a film that truly needs no introduction (though I'll be giving it one tonight at 8:30 anyway). Currently cited as the best film ever made according to Sight and Sound's most recent critics' poll, it may surprise viewers to know that Hitch's psychosexual magnum opus was a critical and commercial catastrophe on release. 61 years of critical reevaluation has been kinder than opening weekend box-office, and it's easy to see why — find out for yourself at our free screening, tonight at Eurisko Beer Company!

"A good film is when the price of the dinner, the theater admission, and the babysitter were worth it."
— Sir Alfred Hitchcock
If that's the case then our film tonight must be very good indeed, because our screening is free! (You're still responsible for your own dinner and childcare.)To honor the 120th anniversary of Hitch's birth, we're showing his personal favorite (and mine) from the entirety of a 50+ year, 50+ film career. It's a film that insinuates themes of mid-war menace to an idyllic suburban Anytown USA, with an incredible cast featuring Teresa Wright and Joseph Cotten in one of his best roles ever. A shadow will fall over Eurisko Beer Company tonight at 8:30, no doubt about it!

Our thrilling August birthday celebration continues tonight at Eurisko Beer Co. Ever wonder what was up with the neighbors across the courtyard? Grab yourself a pair of binoculars and find out. So grab your telephoto lens and join us tonight at sundown for the perfect movie to kick off the late summer weekend ahead.

If you attended last week’s August kickoff screening then you know what’s in store: an entire month devoted to our Birthday Boy. Tonight at Eurisko Beer Co., we present a rarely screened early gem from the horror master. A favorite of the Coen Brothers and J.D. Salinger and a template for countless espionage thrillers that followed, tonight’s title is an example of how to do a lot with very little, and how a true auteur can get under your skin like no one else. FREE SHOW STARTS AT SUNDOWN.
