Energy Savers Network provides ENERGY EDUCATION to our low income clients. This is something we all can consider.

Here’s a quick reality check: up to 90% of the energy your washing machine consumes goes solely toward heating the water!

If you're still washing everyday loads in warm or hot water, you’re essentially paying to heat water that your laundry detergent doesn't even need.

The Fix: Switch your standard wash setting to Cold (30°C / 60°F or lower).

The Benefit: Modern laundry detergents are specifically engineered to break down dirt and stains in cold water.

The Bonus: Cold water protects your clothes from shrinking, fading, and wearing out quickly.

Save energy, protect your wardrobe, and keep extra cash in your wallet—all with the push of a button.

Is your ceiling fan working against you? 🔄

Did you know that tiny switch on your fan motor can save you serious money on your energy bill? Most people set their fans once and forget them, but changing direction with the seasons makes a massive difference!

Summer Mode (Counterclockwise): Set your fan to run counterclockwise at a medium-to-high speed. This creates a "wind-chill" effect, pushing cool air down and making the room feel up to 4 degrees cooler without dialing down the AC.

Winter Mode (Clockwise): Set your fan to run clockwise at low speed. Heat rises, trapping warm air near the ceiling. A low clockwise spin creates a gentle updraft that redistributes that warm air down along the walls.

💡 Pro Tip: Fans cool people, not rooms! They work by creating a breeze on your skin, so turn them off when you leave the room to avoid wasting electricity.

Its time to change our fans!

Now that cooler fall weather has arrived across the region it is time to reverse our fans! In the summer our fans turn counterclockwise to push air downward to give us that "windchill effect".

In the wintertime warmer air becomes trapped near the ceiling (warm air rises). This can cause you to run heat longer to heat the floor level of your room. Reversing your fan allows you push the warm air trapped above back down to the floor. This will make it feel warmer and make heating more efficient.

A college student, who saw a presentation we gave to his Energy Analysis class, came out and volunteered and made a custom reusable air filter for one of our clients — one of the many things we do and he was quite good at it!
