“Weatherization” sounds technical.

But the idea behind it is actually pretty simple👇
Find the places where a home is wasting energy, and fix them.

That can mean sealing gaps where air is escaping, improving insulation, addressing airflow and making other improvements that help the home perform more efficiently.

The goal?
Less wasted energy.
More consistent comfort.
Less work for heating + cooling systems.
And potentially lower energy costs along the way.

And for qualifying Energy Savers Network clients, weatherization services are provided at no cost.

This is a big part of what our team does every day, one house at a time 💚

We’re recruiting. 🔨 Not contractors. Not construction experts.

Neighbors who are willing to show up, learn something new and help make a real difference in someone’s home.

Some of our volunteers come with years of hands-on experience. Others pick up a tool and learn as they go.

Our team helps guide the work, you bring your willingness to pitch in.

Come on your own, bring a friend or organize a volunteer day with your coworkers, business, club or community group.

Because this work has always been about neighbors helping neighbors.

👉 Energy Savers Network helps qualifying local households with no-cost energy-saving services, education and critical home repairs.

That support can look different from home to home and may include things like:

→ Weatherization
→ Air sealing
→ Energy-saving upgrades
→ Minor home repairs
→ Identifying opportunities for larger energy improvements

And you don’t need to know exactly what’s wrong with your home before reaching out.

If something feels off, your energy bills are climbing, a room never feels comfortable, or there’s a repair you simply can’t afford right now, start by asking.

We do a lot with the caulk around here. 😏 And while the jokes practically write themselves, caulk actually plays a pretty important role in weatherization.

👉 Small gaps around windows, doors, trim, plumbing penetrations and other areas of the home can let conditioned air escape and outside air creep in.

👉 Caulking those gaps helps reduce unwanted air leakage, which can make a home more comfortable and help heating and cooling systems work more efficiently.

It’s one of those small upgrades that may not look dramatic…

…but it can make a real difference.

So yes, around here?

We’re big fans of a good caulk job. 😂

A leaking roof after Hurricane Helene had created more than just a home repair problem for Dana’s family. Serious mold issues were developing, and there was a newborn baby living in the home.

With funding from the Center for Disaster Philanthropy , we were able to complete critical repairs including a full roof replacement, new exterior windows, mold remediation, and replacement of contaminated drywall and insulation.

And through additional Energy Savers Network services, Dana also received weatherization work, a heat pump water heater and replacement of an 18-year-old malfunctioning HVAC system.

Altogether: $25,000 in services to help make one home safer, healthier and more efficient.

We’re incredibly grateful to the Center for Disaster Philanthropy for helping make Hurricane Helene recovery projects like this possible.
