Four artists. Four trees. One night. 🎷🌳

Friday Night LIVE! is shaping up to be one of the highlights of All Jazzed Up — the 2027 ABS Learning Seminars in New Orleans.

On Friday, March 12, watch Suthin Sukosolvisit, Jennifer Price, Pedro Morales, and Mauro Stemberger work simultaneously as they transform four very different pieces of bonsai material:

🌿 Native Water Elm (Planera aquatica) — Jennifer Price
🍁 Trident Maple — Pedro Morales
🌲 Foemina Juniper — Mauro Stemberger

Swipe through to see the actual trees they’ll be working on — then come to New Orleans to see what they become.

Registration is now open! Join the Greater New Orleans Bonsai Society and the American Bonsai Society, March 11–14, 2027, for four days of bonsai, learning, friendship, and a little New Orleans flavor.

🌿 MORE SEATS JUST ADDED! 🐊

Our Lac des Allemands Swamp Tour has been one of the most popular offerings at All Jazzed Up — the 2027 ABS Learning Seminars in New Orleans. With 12 of the original 14 seats already sold, we’ve been able to add 13 more seats to the tour!

And this isn’t just an airboat ride.

Join bonsai artist Randy Bennett as we travel into the Louisiana swamp and cypress forest, where he’ll help us look at bald cypress through the eyes of a bonsai artist — exploring their natural growth patterns, knees, collecting, and the ecology that shapes these remarkable trees.

Along the way, experience the Louisiana wetlands by airboat and keep your eyes open for alligators, bald eagles, herons, egrets, and other native wildlife. 🦅🐊🌳

📅 Thursday, March 11, 2027
🕤 9:30 AM–1:00 PM
🚌 Transportation to and from the airboat pier is included

We were fortunate to add these additional seats, but there is no guarantee that we’ll be able to add more once they’re gone. If this tour is on your New Orleans list, we strongly encourage you to register early and reserve your spot.

ABS is proud to support the U.S. National Tropical Bonsai Exhibition!

Held September 5–6 in Houston, this first national exhibition dedicated to tropical bonsai showcased just how far the art has come in the United States.

For years, I’ve admired the great tropical bonsai of Taiwan and elsewhere and wondered why we didn’t see trees of that caliber here at home. This exhibition provided a wonderful answer: we do.

The show brought together remarkable trees, exceptional pots, and artists helping to define the future of tropical bonsai in North America.

Planned for alternate years, the U.S. National Tropical Bonsai Exhibition has an exciting future—and ABS looks forward to seeing tropical bonsai stand proudly alongside our great temperate species as a celebrated North American bonsai art form.

The future of tropical bonsai is bright. 🌿
