Our Voice Our Voice serves survivors of sexual violence, and human trafficking ages 13 and up Founded in 1974
Our VOICE, Inc.

is a non-profit crisis intervention and prevention agency that serves survivors of sexual violence, age 13 through adult, in Buncombe County. The agency was founded in 1974 as an all-volunteer grassroots organization. The agency remained underground until August 1983 when we received our 501(c)(3) status as a non-profit agency and the first employee was hired. Now, 40 years and considerable growth

later, Our VOICE employs six paid staff and over 50 volunteers, working both to support the healing of survivors of sexual violence and to prevent future acts of sexual violence.

Our Voice is a proud participating charity in Birdies for Charity, a fundraising platform supporting nonprofits across Buncombe, Haywood, Henderson, and Madison counties.

For a minimum $20 donation, supporters can guess the number of birdies made during the Biltmore Championship Asheville, September 17th–20th. The closest guess (without going over) wins The Ultimate Biltmore Experience, including a three-night stay for two in a Chateau Tier suite, daily breakfast, dinner, a guided Biltmore House tour, and more. And 100% of every donation goes directly to Our Voice, plus a share of a $50,000 bonus pool from the Biltmore Championship.

πŸŽ’ Heading back to campus (or know someone who is)?

New classes, new roommates, and new independence, provide a good time to think about what safer, healthier relationships look like this year. Our latest blog covers knowing your own boundaries, talking about consent before things get sexual, making a plan around alcohol, and knowing how to step in if something feels wrong. πŸ’¬

A former Our Voice intern built an incredible Survivors Toolkit.

The Survivors Toolkit website is a searchable directory of free, sliding-scale, and low-cost resources across the Asheville area: food, housing, medical care, clothing, crisis support, and dozens of other categories, all in one place. Search by need ("food," "shelter") or browse by category to find help fast.

We love seeing our alumni carry this work forward. πŸ’š

To everyone who has donated, shared, and stood with us during this Summer Appeal: THANK YOU!

Your generosity will allow our team to show up on campuses, in local businesses, and on the other end of our 24/7 crisis line every single day. You are sending a clear message to every survivor and student in our community: your safety matters, your healing matters, and you are never alone.

There's still time to help us reach our $20,000 summer goal to keep these frontline prevention and survivor services fully funded.
