🌽 Rachel and Carolina had an amazing morning at the Harvest Share event with Dig In Yancey County Community Gardens & Tractor Food & Farms! 175 households served, 75+ people in attendance, and so many great conversations — including folks from Weaverville and Spruce Pine, and new connections with Spanish-speaking community members. Big thanks to Yancey County Cooperative Extension for the delicious grilled veggie flatbreads! 💚

We’re excited to unveil the brand-new route for this year’s Mental Health Matters 5K, set against the beautiful backdrop of the UNC Asheville campus! Runners and walkers will kick things off right on the track, where the energy of the Start/Finish line and our Health & Resource Fair will get everyone pumped up before heading out onto the course.

From the track, the route flows out into a scenic loop through UNC Asheville’s campus. Walker/runners can expect:

–Three laps around the campus loop: you’ll pass mile markers 1, 2, and 3 as you go, so you always know exactly how far you’ve come (and how far you have left!)
–Moderately hilly terrain: expect some gentle climbs and descents that wind past campus buildings and beautiful campus scenery.
–A final stretch back onto the track for a strong finish, right where you started!

Wake up, lace up, sign up, and let’s take the steps together to change Mental Health Awareness in WNC! 💚💛

Last Friday, Rachel, our new Community-Based Program Manager, tabled at the Madison County NC MedAssist event. Madison County Health Department in partnership with VAYA Health Partners and the WNC Bridge Foundation was able to bring NC MedAssists over-the-counter medication event to Madison County for the second time. Through this event individuals could receive free over the counter medications. There were 12 community service organizations tabling at the event. Volunteers from several different organizations and well over 100 people in attendance. It was an amazing event!

We continue to be grateful that we can expand our services into Madison County!

On Wednesday, July 29th, All Souls held our 17th Community Meal in Swannanoa! A huge thank you to ArtSpace Charter School for opening their doors to us and letting us host our lunch in their space. Participants enjoyed a delicious lunch catered by Okie Dokies Smokehouse BBQ. Almost 40 people joined us for lunch and connected, engaging in conversations about mental health and wellbeing!

Our Swannanoa therapist, Elizabeth, led the group through grounding exercises to help connect our bodies back to our minds. Thank you, Elizabeth, for providing amazing tools that we can use in our daily lives!

We were so excited to partner with Swannanoa Communities Together for this Community Meal. Thank you, SCT, for the amazing and much-needed work you provide for individuals in Swannanoa. ASCC is so excited to offer our services to Swannanoa in the near future!
