๐ŸŽ‰ Congratulations to Taylor on her newly appointed role as Co-Chair of the Buncombe County Safety Net Committee!

Taylor will be serving alongside Dr. Carmen Robinson, Chief Medical Officer at Western North Carolina Community Health Services, and we couldnโ€™t be more excited about what this collaboration represents.

The Safety Net Committee plays an important role in identifying community needs, addressing gaps in services, and helping guide investments that improve access to healthcare, behavioral health services, and other social determinants of health throughout Buncombe County.

Taylor's appointment is especially significant because it strengthens the voice of lived experience in conversations about how safety-net resources are designed, prioritized, and deployed in our community. Those closest to the challenges are often closest to the solutions, and we believe that perspective is essential when shaping systems that serve people.

This is what partnership looks like. This is what it looks like when diverse perspectives, lived experience, healthcare leadership, and community voices come together to create meaningful change.

As we continue implementing the NCFIT Community Health Worker model with Western North Carolina Community Health Services, we are grateful for a Federally Qualified Health Center that recognizes the value of investing in formerly incarcerated individuals and leveraging an evidence-based approach to improving health outcomes and reducing barriers to care.

Together, we're building stronger pathways to recovery, reentry, health, and hope for the people of Buncombe County.

Congratulations, Taylor! We are proud of your leadership and look forward to the amazing work ahead.

Strong men ask for help. Strong men support one another. Strong men prioritize their mental well-being.

A simple "How are you really doing?" can open the door to connection, support, and healing.

What a great morning in Hendersonville! ๐Ÿณโ˜•๏ธ

Operation Gateway kicked off the day with a solid breakfast at Popโ€™s Diner, where good food met even better conversation. We had the opportunity to connect, collaborate, and build with Daniel and Henderson County Drug Court as we work toward a stronger, more aligned plan to support our surrounding communities with recovery and reentry.

Grateful for partnerships that are rooted in purpose and progress. This is how real change happensโ€”together. ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿฝ

๐Ÿšจ Time Sensitive: Sign-On Deadline is May 31 ๐Ÿšจ

We are calling on reentry service providers and advocacy organizations to support fixes to HB 696 / S.L. 2026-1 before harmful Medicaid changes take effect.

The existing provisions of house bill 696 would directly harm formerly incarcerated North Carolinians by:
โ€ข Requiring 3 months of work history before qualifying for Medicaid
โ€ข Adding mandatory copays that create barriers to healthcare access

People returning from incarceration already face major challenges finding employment, housing, and healthcare.

Sign on to the letter in support of changes, to reduce the 3 month work requirement to 1 month and to eliminate the mandatory maximum co-pays for medicaid enrollees click here or use the QR code on the flyer!
