🎉 Congratulations to the Western North Carolina VA Health Care System, which was recently honored with the "Best Veterans Experience" award at the 2026 VA Customer Experience Symposium.

This recognition is a testament to the incredible staff, but it also means the world to our Residents and Fellows across General Surgery, Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, and Addiction Medicine. We're so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to learn, work, and serve alongside this team.

Getting to take care of our veteran community here is a true privilege that shapes who we are as doctors.

Last week, legendary UNC basketball Coach Roy Williams joined leaders across the The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, UNC Adams School of Dentistry, and UNC School of Medicine gathered on MAHEC's Asheville campus to celebrate how MAHEC and UNC-Chapel Hill are collaborating to build a stronger healthcare workforce across Western North Carolina.

This partnership is woven directly into the fabric of our graduate medical education. By bringing together university-caliber resources and a shared commitment to this region, we're training future doctors in the towns and communities that need them most.
