It has been a while since we've updated those who are still following our little heroes' story, so here it is. Chevy is doing great to outsiders, and mostly to us. He is back to normal day to day like a typical boy his age. He has started baseball season after a long, nearly 2-year break, but he is doing so well! Chevy is making all A's on his schoolwork from home. He just had his check in with his plastic surgeon on Monday and we are going ahead with 3 more scheduled surgeries but we will be pushing them back just a bit so they don't interfere too much with baseball season. Chevy was pretty disappointed he has not grown much in height since his last visit and remains in the 27th percentile for his height for almost 2 years now but he(we) are confident he is just a late bloomer like his dad and will grow taller later on! Overall he is wonderful, we will update again soon! Thank you all so much for the continued prayers and thoughts for our little miracle boy!

Chevy Update!! We are 5 months away from our 2 year anniversary of Chevys burns and he is still going to therapy but good news today after seeing his PT today she has decided that after September we will likely drop PT therapy down to just a check in once in a while.....he will continue with OT since his injuries there were more severe but we will likely drop back some on that as well! He is doing all the things they have asked us to do and we are seeing huge improvement

He did it, he worked his butt off and had plenty of hurdles and struggles this year with his surgeries and continuing therapy but this crazy smart boy still made A/B Honor Roll all year even missing I'm pretty sure somewhere in the upwards of 60 or more days, he still made a 5 on his Math EOG .....he absolutely hated this entire school year and is so very happy it's over! Southmont is such an incredible school, both of our younger kids have gone here and the teachers are phenomenal, the Principal Mrs Laplant and V. Principal Mrs. Walker are the most amazing two women and human beings that I know and have done nothing but great things and supported our boy through all of this, we are forever grateful to them and Southmont!!! I'm so proud of him and I hope so much that next years experience will be just what he needs for his education going forward! Congratulations Chevy Lee!!

TRIGGER!!! ....images may be too graphic for some but for everyone's curiosity these are pictures of Chevys last surgery, this is Z-plasty. After his burns, he got skin grafts of all different kinds and once those grafts heal to the remaining healthy skin he has the area where they meet and sometimes the area within the grafts create scar bands which are essentially like bands of scar tissue and they literally look like someone has tied rubber bands around and within Chevys arms, hands and legs. The major difference though is that these bands are NOT elastic at all like typical healthy skin is, as a child grows their skin grows and stretches with them but in Chevys case he has such large surface area burns with grafts that the cast majority of his major appendage areas will be full of these bands that will draw up and prevent him from having a full range of motion (ROM) especially as he grows and he has so many years left of growing since his burns happened so young.....so the Z-plasty surgery is a procedure in which they cut strategic z's into the scar bands to help lengthen and give back more mobilty to those areas. This was the first of several I'm sure but I sure hope it is a long time before he needs it again because this is much more difficult to recover from than just his lasers.....the first 5 photos are taken a week after surgery and the last 3 pictures were taken today, he has healed alot but still not quite there yet, still have stitches and some open areas

Chevy did great at therapy, we did discover some new developing scar bands down his left leg but hopefully it will be awhile before that becomes a mobility issue....he got a new splint made for his hand to keep the z plasty stretched while it is healing for maximum ROM....his OT wants to see him twice a week for the next 8 weeks while his arm and hand are healing and we are going to stick with once a month on PT for now
