Every child deserves a place to play with their peers, regardless of ability or disability.
Weβre highlighting Ashdown City Park in Southwest Arkansas, a great example of how accessibility and inclusion can be prioritized in communities of every size. Even in a small town like Ashdown, children with disabilities are being considered in the design of their community spaces.
The playground features wheelchair and walker-friendly ramps, shaded areas, and new play pieces that make the space exciting for kids of all abilities. These features create more opportunities for children to explore and play alongside their peer while enjoying the simple magic of being a kid.
Weβre grateful to the City of Ashdown for recognizing that accessibility matters, no matter the size of the community. Inclusive recreation should be something every child can experience, and Ashdown is showing what that can look like right in their own backyard.
