Congrats Sgt. thank you for all you do !

Today, we proudly celebrate an incredible milestone—the 20 years of dedicated service to our community by Sgt. Brian Vautour!!!

For the past two decades, Sgt. Vautour has served the Town of Ashby with integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to keeping our community safe. Through long days, late nights, and countless moments of service, he has consistently answered the call with compassion and dedication.

He spent most of his first 14 years working the overnight shift, so a lot of people confuse him for "one of the new guys", although you might remember him as the Ashby cop that George Clooney wanted a picture with 😎

Thank you, Sgt. Vautour, for your dedication, your leadership, and your commitment to our community. We are grateful for everything you do!

Matt's commitment to serving others reached every corner of the community. As a volunteer firefighter, local business owner, church member, Meals on Wheels driver, and friend to so many, he never stopped finding ways to give back. His kindness, humility, and willingness to help others made a lasting impression on generations of Ashby residents.

While many will remember Matt for his incredible work ethic and dedication to his family, those who served alongside him will also remember his devotion to the fire service and the pride he took in serving his hometown.

We are grateful for the time, dedication, and compassion he shared with the Ashby Fire Department and our community. His example reminds us that a life of service is measured not only by the calls answered, but by the countless lives touched along the way.

Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Pamela, the entire Peeler family, and all who had the privilege of knowing Matt.

Calling hours will be held Friday, July 17, from **4:00–7:00 PM** at **Anderson Funeral Home, 250 Main Street, Townsend**. A funeral service celebrating Matt's life will take place on **Saturday, July 18, at 11:00 AM** at the **Ashby Congregational Church**, followed by burial at Glenwood Cemetery.

It is with great sadness that the Ashby Fire and EMS Association shares the passing of former Ashby volunteer EMT Joyce Johnson.

A lifetime devoted to helping others defined Joyce’s legacy. She began her service to the Ashby community as a volunteer EMT, answering the call whenever her neighbors needed assistance. She later continued that mission as a registered nurse, dedicating many years to patient care while also serving in nursing leadership. Her compassion, generosity, and commitment to those around her made a lasting difference to countless individuals and families.

Joyce’s dedication to serving others reflects the very values of the emergency services and healthcare professions. She will be remembered with gratitude and respect by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Ashby Congregational Church.
