Looking for the ultimate summer day trip? 🌻 The McKee-Beshers sunflowers in Poolesville, MD are about to hit their peak bloom, update with 2026 map!

Located just a short drive outside of Washington, DC, the McKee-Beshers Wildlife Management Area features over 30 acres of massive, 7-foot-tall sunflower fields planted by the Maryland DNR.

If you are planning to check out the best Maryland sunflower fields this season, timing is everything. The peak bloom typically happens in mid-to-late July and only lasts for about 2–3 weeks.

⚠️ CRUCIAL VISITOR INFO:
It is 100% FREE to visit and park, but there are no restrooms or trash facilities.
Picking or cutting the sunflowers is strictly prohibited to protect local wildlife.

Bring heavy-duty bug spray (the ticks and mosquitoes are no joke!) and wear closed-toe boots for the muddy trails.
