Knowledge saves lives—period.

During our March monthly training with AWA Loudoun, one of our instructors led a powerful session on IFAK kits (Individual First Aid Kits) and why every responsible range-goer should not only carry one—but know how to use it.

An IFAK isn’t just a pouch—it’s a critical response tool designed to manage life-threatening injuries in the moments that matter most. We’re talking about essentials like tourniquets to stop severe bleeding, pressure bandages, chest seals for penetrating wounds, and hemostatic agents to help control hemorrhage. In a high-risk environment like a shooting range, seconds count—and your ability to act quickly can mean the difference between life and loss.

Owning the gear is only half the equation. Training is what turns tools into lifesaving action. Knowing when—and how—to apply a tourniquet, pack a wound, or respond under pressure is a skill set every firearm owner should take seriously.

Because being prepared isn’t just about what’s on your belt—it’s about what’s in your mind.

Inspired by a stirring speech at a national leadership conference, and the stories of our chapter leaders and members, has become an annual tradition for Armed Women of America.

We invite women across the country regardless of whether you are an AWA member, to head to a shooting range on the first Saturday of June (or anytime in June) for Day to stand in solidarity with women self-protectors and show the world they refuse to be a victim, and for some, to say to ever again being a victim. We even have a downloadable target for your use! (and it makes a great target for dry practice, too!)

To acknowledge and participate, fire three rounds symbolizing:

I am empowered;
I am prepared,
I will not be a victim.
Please share and post your range visit and using the hashtags and tagging us.

If you are unable to get to the range, you can make your voice heard by sharing your testimony or personal statements of and on social media and tag wearing your shirt, or any purple shirt and holding a target!
