Declutter for the Divineys

Declutter for the Divineys Fundraising for the Diviney Family! Ryan Diviney was attacked in November 2009 while attending West Virginia University. He survived, but remains in a coma.

His attackers knocked him to the pavement and kicked his head as if it were a football. "Declutter for the Divineys" aims to help this family care for Ryan.

Randy Webb asked, on our page, how Ryan is doing and how we can help his parents. For how Ryan is doing, I'm going to post two links below. For how we can help, it's easy. On Ken Diviney's blog, there is a link to donate to the family. I set up a recurring donation - if we all send a little bit each month, it can add up to a lot - a lot of help with Ryan's medications, therapies, and nursing care. Ken also publishes a "wish list" on Amazon where we can purchase items that Ryan needs and it will be sent directly to them. Thank you, Randy, for thinking of Ryan and reaching out!

I stood in the doorway between Ryan's room and what is now his therapy area. It's the middle of the night. The house, and every human and animal in it, is asleep. Well, except for me. There will be...

So excited for Aidan's Playground and their grand opening! Inspired by the 'Declutter for the Divineys' article in Oprah Magazine, with the help of our favorite organizer, Peter Walsh, Kristi was able to build this beautiful playground in memory of her nephew. Way to go, Kristi -- and all the businesses and volunteers who made it possible!

We had a beautiful day for the grand opening! Here's Aidan's Family after the ribbon cutting.

In the March issue, Oprah magazine challenged its readers to "De-clutter for a Cause" in the spirit of our "Declutter for the Divineys" fundraiser. The winner of that contest lives near Boston and is raising money to build a playground in memory of her ten month old nephew who died in a tragic accidental drowning. Please "like" the Aidan's Playground page and consider donating and/or offering support and encouragement. We know what goes into such an effort and it would be awesome for us to help in some way. Thank you!! :)

Shout out to a sponsor who helped with BOTH Declutter for the Divineys events. 123Junk was there for us at the end of the sales to help us find homes for the items that didn't sell. Check them out and see how they can help you with your unwanted items! Please thank them for giving back to the community.

Update on Ryan: He is listening! His dad gives him a command, and he responds - surely a promising sign, and one we've all been hoping for. Please share! :) (If you haven't followed Ryan's blog, his eyes were sewn shut to reduce the scarring caused by not blinking and to save his eyesight.)

As most know, I am a huge skeptic when it comes to looking too much into Ryan’s responses. It takes a lot to make me think he is voluntarily responding. Now, I’m still not one-hundred p...

We are missing a couple of tables that were loaned to us for the event - they are rectangular white tables that fold in the middle and have a handle to carry them. If you picked up such a table, can you please check the bottom as the missing tables were both marked clearly with the owner's name. Thank you! Also, if you loaned us items for the sale and would like to get them back, please leave a message here or send an email to [email protected]. We have vacated the Bloom location. Thanks!

Whew! A huge thank you to everyone who has volunteered over the past two weeks. It was a community effort from start to finish and it was so heartwarming to see how many people came together to make this event a success. Please accept our gratitude - we couldn't do this without your help!! And we'd like to thank Delhaize America (parent company of Food Lion) for allowing us to use their vacant store and The Rappaport Companies for giving us permission to set up in the parking lot. Thank you!! :)
